Weekend Grocery Run | 🇫🇷 Paul Bocuse Food Market in Lyon, France
📍 Les Halles de Lyon Paul Bocuse I’ve lived in Switzerland for over three years and never found a large seafood market—until a friend recommended Lyon’s food market. I checked it out and it sounded amazing. 🚗🚗 Coincidentally, I’d planned a trip to Lyon this weekend, so I stopped by for grocery shopping on the way. It’s not a long drive from Geneva, just 1 hour and 40 minutes.🌲 🌼🌼Les Halles de Lyon Paul Bocuse, named after the legendary chef Paul Bocuse, is located in central Lyon. Founded in 1859, it’s one of France’s oldest gourmet markets. 👀 It supplies high-end ingredients and seasonings to Michelin-starred restaurants across France year-round, offering a wide range of products: poultry and meat, seasonal fruits and vegetables, seafood, cheese, bread, pastries, and chocolates.🎉🎉 🌸 "Lyon has long been regarded as the 'Gastronomic Capital of France.' Strategically situated near three major wine regions—Beaujolais, Bourgogne (Burgundy), and Côtes du Rhône—it also has access to premium ingredients from surrounding areas: high-quality meat, sausages, and cheese from Auvergne, Dauphiné, Franche-Comté, and Savoie; carp and freshwater crayfish from the Ain Lakes; and renowned Bourg-en-Bresse chicken and Charolais beef.🥩🥩 In short, Lyon is the city where France’s finest ingredients converge, making it the ultimate representative of French culinary culture."🥭 I wandered around today and picked up quite a few things: truffle cheese, Iberian ham, oysters, large scallops, abalone (something I’ve never found in Switzerland), snails, sea urchins… I’m planning to make a seafood platter tonight and sea urchin fried rice tomorrow.🥙🥙 🌿🌿The food vendors were all so friendly. I heard many stalls have been run by the same families for generations—their passion for food is evident. They patiently explained the best ways to cook, eat, and store the ingredients to keep them fresh. Overall, the quality of ingredients here is excellent. The seafood and produce are super fresh, and you can find everything from bread and cheese to poultry and pastries.☘️☘️ It’s perfect for a one-stop weekend grocery run 🌟. Of course, what impressed me most was the abundant, fresh seafood—I’d give it 100 out of 10!🌻🌻 #FrenchFood #LyonGastronomy #PaulBocuse #IrisTravelDiary #SwissLife
