My wife and I had visited Fiston and La Gâche both at the Vieux Lyon last night and lunchtime today. Both restaurants delivered good cuisines and their waiters and waitresses gave very good service. Tonight we dined at Les Infideles but I was so shocked that I must write this very first review immediately to alert the other tourists beware of this “infidelity” restaurant. We were arranged to sit at a cockloft table and ordered two menus. The starters and the main courses tasted normal, but were of small size that the main courses came with a bowl of rice mixture besides the small loaf of bread. Two waitresses (the slim waitress and the other waitress) seemed were serving the whole restaurant. After the main courses with rice mixture had been delivered, no waitress came up to the cockloft again. We finished the main courses, waited for half an hour, but no one would take our order for desserts. When two newcomers came to sit at the table behind us, the slim waitress went straight pass our table pretending not seeing our request for service professionally. So I waved my hand to attract her attention, but she responded at once that I could not call her like this(waving hand), as only her boss could call her like this. I told her that if I had not waved hand, she would have continued ignoring us until the shop closed. I insisted to place the order for desserts and she reluctantly took our order, but cleared the main course dishes away rudely to show us her dissatisfaction. Since then, only the other waitress would serve our table. Worst of all, when we finished the desserts and my wife went to the cashier to pay the bill as indicated by the other waitress, the slim waitress who was attending the cashier at the time suddenly left the counter and whispered to the other waitress who just cleared our dishes to the kitchen. The other waitress came forward to the counter and told my wife the bill was €78 and ask her to tap the card. As the two menus we ordered should be €64 only, I asked her to show us the detailed bill. She then printed our bill of two menus for €64, without saying a word why she demanded €78 in the first place. It appeared that the two waitresses conspired to cheat the tourist customers like us. We were almost deceived to pay much more than the worth the food and particularly the “infidelity”...
Read moreI had a truly terrible experience dining at this restaurant due to how poorly they handled my tree nut allergy. As someone with food allergies, I'm used to having to communicate my needs clearly at restaurants. But my attempts to have a basic dialogue with the staff to explain my allergy were met with a disheartening combination of cluelessness and disinterest that left me feeling frustrated and disrespected.
When I told them about my tree nut allergy, the staff made a blanket statement that nothing on the menu, not even the bread, would be safe for me to eat. Rather than taking a few minutes to understand the specifics of what I can and can't have, they just wrote me off. I later found out their claim about the menu was completely untrue.
Left with no other options, I begrudgingly accepted their offer to make me a salad, since my partner really wanted to eat there. What followed was an embarrassing and exasperating experience. I had to sit there for over an hour watching my partner eating multiple delicious looking courses, while they brought out absolutely nothing for me. They didn't offer me any starters, or even a spoon so I could try any of the non-allergen dishes. I felt so awkward and ignored.
When my "salad" finally came out, it was nothing more than a tiny bowl of random tomatoes, fruit and cheese. Calling that a salad is a real stretch. To add insult to injury, when the check came they had the nerve to charge me full price, claiming my sad little bowl of scraps was equivalent to a main course. Unbelievable.
In this day and age, food allergies are common and restaurants need to educate themselves on how to properly communicate with and accommodate customers who have them. This restaurant completely failed in this regard. Their apathy and lack of basic respect left me feeling betrayed as a customer.
I hate to be harsh, but I absolutely cannot in good faith recommend this restaurant to anyone after how I was treated. I hope my review serves as a warning to other potential patrons, especially those with dietary restrictions - think twice before giving this place your business. A good restaurant isn't just about the food, it's about treating all customers with a basic level of care, empathy and dignity - which was sorely lacking in...
Read moreMy wife and I and two friends dined at Les Infideles this evening and were impressed by the front of the restaurant staff, chef staff, atmosphere of the restaurant and the creative and impressive culinary experience! We sat outside, enjoying the foot traffic of the street. We had the three course meal and enjoyed the bbq salad, shrimp in a spring roll, cod, beef and eggplant main dishes, along with a delicious white chocolate molten cake. The dishes were creative in how they were constructed, bringing together wonderful elements and flavors in a surprising and delicious manner. I’ll close with three last points. First, our server, Malou, was knowledgeable about the menu and was engaging in helping us make our dinner selections; always with a smile. Second, we realized after receiving our order of wine, that it was too sweet for us, which Malou, replaced with a drier white wine without hesitation. Third, the management of the restaurant needs to staff the establishment at a level that they can deliver a three course meal in a reasonable length of time. The time in between our first and second courses was over 45 minutes - and it took so long to get our hot water for our tea that we paid and left before it was delivered to our table. It was the only disappointing part of our experience this evening! Great food; better overall...
