Weekend Wildflower Hike Recommendation
Tipsoo Lake + Naches Peak Loop Just a 2-hour drive from Seattle, Tipsoo Lake sits near the south entrance of Mt. Rainier National Park—no entrance line! We arrived at noon, worried about parking, but luckily found a few open spots! 🚗💨 First, we took a leisurely stroll around Tipsoo Lake—zero elevation gain, perfect for families and casual hikers. The lakeshore was blanketed in wildflowers in full bloom! 🌼✨ Then, we hiked the Naches Peak Loop clockwise—under 4 miles round trip with ~600 ft elevation gain, making it a perfect easy-moderate hike. 🌿 First half: A fairy-tale explosion of wildflowers—so dense and colorful, it felt like walking through a painting! 🏔️ Second half: Fewer flowers, but unbeatable views of Mt. Rainier—still absolutely stunning. Why This Hike Rocks: ✔ Prime wildflower season—vibrant and diverse! ✔ Avoids crowds—no fighting for space like at Paradise. ✔ Short & rewarding—max views for minimal effort. ✔ Parking is manageable—if Tipsoo fills up, roadside spots are available just a few hundred feet ahead. ✔ Bonus detour option: From the loop, take the Dewey Lake side trail (~600 ft descent) for even more scenery. ⚠️ Only downside: MOSQUITOES! 🦟 Even with bug spray, we got nibbled—long sleeves + extra repellent are a must. Also, don’t forget your NW Forest Pass for parking! Pro Tips: • Arrive early for the softest morning light (and fewer bugs). • Pack a picnic—the lakeside views are chef’s kiss. 🧺 • Layer up—mountain weather changes fast! #SeattleHiking #TipsooLake #NachesPeakLoop #WildflowerHike #MtRainier #PacificNorthwest #PNWonderland #NatureLovers #EasyHikes #SummerInWashington #ExploreTheOutdoors #HikeMoreWorryLess
