What I’ve Been Eating in Madison Lately 🍜 | A Foodie’s Diary
Besides the restaurants I’ve already reviewed, here’s what I’ve been trying around Madison lately. Some weren’t really worth a full review, and some were… just not it (oops 👀). Sharing my thoughts here! ▪️ Cane’s 🍗 The fried chicken spot on State Street—pretty well-known, but honestly? Their chicken is dry, not juicy at all. Total American calorie bomb 💣. Everything felt just… basic. ▪️ Haven 🍜 Went back a second time. Their chilled beef shank salad was SO GOOD!! It could hold its own even back in China 😋✌️. But the milk tea? Nahhh. The beef noodles took forever—almost 30 mins. By the time they arrived, I was already full from the beef shank 😂. Still tasty though! ▪️ Taiwan Little Eats 🫕 Ordered this light meal when I was sick. The milk tea was authentic Taiwanese style 🧋—yum! The danzai noodles were super mild… perfect for when you’re under the weather. As a veggie lover, I really enjoyed their greens plate—so fresh and crunchy! ▪️ Pin Chuan 🍱 I’ve been twice now and both times were… not great 😬. Am I ordering wrong? What’s actually good here? Help a girl out! ▪️ Shake Shack 🍟 Tried their beer float—pretty unique! First sip tasted like… toothpaste? 🥲 But after a few sips, it grew on me. Huge scoop of ice cream floating on top—reminded me of Snow Cap Coffee ☕🍦. Their fries? Always good, but SO high in calories. Every time I look at the menu, I get scared—everything’s like 900 calories 😱! ▪️ Daily Scoop 🍨 Consistently delicious and super affordable—$5 for a giant scoop! This time I got Mocha Macchiato 🍫☕, perfectly sweet. Last time the Nutty Chocolate was a bit too sugary. ▪️ Sunny Pho 🍜 I wrote a review before, but this time… not so good. The broth was saltier, the noodles broke apart easily (probably leftover from yesterday 😒). The spring rolls were huge but bland—no fragrance. ▪️ Almost all of these can be ordered on Panda Delivery 🐼—often with better deals! #MadisonEats #UWMadison #InternationalStudentEats #FoodDiary #CampusFood #MadtownFood #FoodExploration #StudyAbroadLife
