What I Ate in Kandy Over Two Weeks | A Must-Reference for Your Trip

A friend warned me to bring snacks before my trip, but as someone with a very adaptable palate—and with 3/4 of my suitcase filled with clothes—packing snacks was out of the question. Besides, I was already looking forward to trying the local food in Sri Lanka.😍 The pictures here only show a portion of my meals; overall, there was a great variety to suit different tastes. Of course, most weren’t the local Sri Lankan curries, which I could only handle occasionally.👌 Hotel Buffets: I tried five hotels. King's Burry had the most diverse spread and comes highly recommended. Cinnamon Lakeside had a similar selection to Hilton but with a bit less variety, so it takes second place, followed by Hilton. Then there’s Regenta Arie by Negombo Lagoon—their buffet isn’t worth recommending, but the hotel itself is a resort-style property with bungalows spaced out generously, making it super relaxing. 👍 It’s much more laid-back than the cramped high-rises in central Colombo, though the food is a letdown. King's Burry and Cinnamon Lakeside had my favorite desserts. Hilton’s were just average, though their cakes were better than their other sweets. Also, don’t miss the made-to-order stir-fries at King's Burry—the stir-fried beef is incredible!❤️ Standalone Restaurants: Near the entrance of the Shangri-La Shopping Mall, there’s Bombay Borough, an Indian restaurant. Their lamb dish is highly recommended—it’s delicious, and the thin, crispy flatbread served with it is the best I had in Sri Lanka. Also, the corn grain snack in Picture 13, which has pomegranate seeds for a flavor twist, is a must-order! Nikki, near Colombo Museum and Gangaramaya Temple, is absolutely worth a visit—you won’t be disappointed! It’s especially great for couples👌 This Greek restaurant serves exquisite dishes that taste as good as they look, with a fantastic ambiance. Their dessert, baklava, comes highly recommended 🥰. If you have free time in the afternoon, it’s perfect for chatting over desserts—this one got rave reviews from everyone in our group! Tap House by RNR, opposite the World Trade Center, is ideal for listening to music, drinking 🍻, and chatting! They have both indoor and outdoor seating—outdoor is recommended. We ordered a snack platter with a bit of everything, which was perfect with our drinks.😍 There are other restaurants too, each with their standout dishes, but these are the most memorable. For now, I’ll share these—more to come later!❤️ #HiddenGemRestaurants #KandyBuffet #KandyWesternFood #Kandy #SriLankaTravel #SriLankaFood #RestaurantRecommendations #WorldTradeCenter
