So i went here because of the reviews saying gluten-free food was available. First of all not breads and other things are gluten free. They only have bowl and chips that are 'gluten free' which turned out was not!
I ordered the bowl after asking three times if it was gluten free. Told them that im super sensitive. Asked them about the sauce... the sauce they said have mustard and milk and is gluten free. I assumed they checked the mustard and started eating. 2 bites in i realized there is lots of soy sauce covered tofus inside. Soy sauce contains gluten! Lots of it. I stopped immediately and asked if it had soy sauce they said yes. Made them take out the soy sauce and showed them the label. I asked why didnt they let me know when i asked about the sauce. The girl said tofu is covered with soy sauce the sauce on top is different. I was already gonna get sick at this point. She said sorry and to get me a new bowl. Explained what chickpeas had in detail this time. Beforehand she was so sure that the food was gluten free because other people had it before and was fine i think😒... i told her no sauce at all. Because she wasnt sure about the spices and anything. I think she tought i meant no sauces on the chickpeas because they brought the bowl again with the mustard sauce. I got up asked to see the mustard. Again- wheat! I told them do you see how easy it is to check the label. Please do so.
She said sorry and not to ask for payment. And then tried to offer if help if i went to the hospital. I think she was trying to be nice but then she went on by saying that i should be more clear 😂 as if it wasnt me that went into the kitchen beforehand, checked reviews, asked for the sauce and if they checked the ingredients- twice. And then told them no sauce when i already got glutened...
I think we are expected to expect less in some countries but im so sorry that i dont have that luxury. In the beginning, she was so sure that it was gluten free that she was getting bothered by me asking a couple of times and to say afterwards that i should be more careful was not okay.
I hope they are more careful in the future because no amount of money to offer for my hospital is gonna bring back my health. I would rather pay you more money than to get sick if thats the deal.
Restaurant business is serious businness. And if you claim a dish to be allergen free you have to check the labels which is sooooo easy...
In the following days im gonna be sick. My body's gonna go through hell. Meanwhile, i only had 2 days to visit places in this country. I hope that its not gone for me.
I'm sorry this is the case. I have a duty for fellow celiacs to write this here so that no one gets sick. And to the other reviews that said gluten free... please please if you have minor intolerances and that you dont realize when you digest gluten dont go around leaving reviews gluten free for stuff. Also the staff gets confused when you order gluten free and then for some soy sauce!!!
Some people are allergic and celiac and doesnt do this by choice.
Calling somenthing free of something should mean that it doesnt...
