What to eat in Baltimore 🥂 Italian restaurant: Sotto Sopra

Baltimore’s Italian Treasure: Steak, Seafood & Live Opera – JHU-Friendly Gem 🇮🇹✨ Another incredible Italian spot in Baltimore that checks every box—amazing food, romantic ambiance, and even live opera! I’ll never get tired of quality Italian cuisine, and this place has shot to the top of my favorites list. ✨ Why It’s a Home Run Unbeatable Atmosphere: Cozy, photo-worthy vibes that feel both elegant and inviting—perfect for romantic dinners or group hangs. We were lucky enough to catch live opera during our meal (so fancy!), adding a memorable touch to the night. JHU Convenient: Accessible via JHU shuttle—total win for students and staff looking for a delicious meal without the hassle of long commutes. No Skips, All Hits: Every dish was exceptional, with generous portions that satisfy even big appetites. Not a single letdown! 🍴 Must-Order Dishes (All 5-Star!) Mains (Massive Portions – Shareable!) Signature Steak: One of the best steaks I’ve ever had! It’s a huge, thick cut, but the cooking is flawless—tender enough to bite into easily, yet not undercooked. The flavor is rich and robust, nothing like the usual braised red wine beef (in the best way). Served with creamy, savory mashed potatoes and earthy mushrooms—absolute perfection. Sea Bass: Crispy, golden fish skin paired with soft, flaky flesh—cooked to perfection. The seasoning is spot-on, and the quinoa base underneath is a delightful surprise: fluffy, mixed with dried shrimp and (shrimp bits) for an extra burst of umami. Squid Ink Pasta: Sweetened with a secret house sauce (slightly sweeter than classic red sauce) and loaded with fresh seafood. The ink pasta’s rich flavor pairs perfectly with the sweet, briny seafood—so tasty. Seafood Risotto: Creamy red sauce-infused risotto packed with an abundance of seafood—clams, mussels, shrimp, and squid. The flavor is similar to the squid ink pasta but with the comforting creaminess of risotto—seafood lovers will go crazy for this. 📌 Practical Details Portion Alert: Servings are generous—four girls split four mains and two appetizers, and we only finished half of each dish. Sharing is a must to try more without waste! Pricing: $300 total (including tax and tip) for 4 mains + 2 appetizers—great value for the quality, portion size, and experience. JHU Perk: Reachable via JHU shuttle—super convenient for the JHU community. Vibe Fit: Romantic enough for dates, spacious enough for group dinners (we had four girls and it was cozy, not cramped). 🏠 Location: Baltimore (JHU shuttle-accessible) #ItalianFood #HiddenGem #BaltimoreFood #JHU #JohnsHopkinsUniversity #Maryland #RomanticRestaurant #SeafoodItalian #LiveOperaDining #FoodieFave
