đŸ€ MĂĄlaga Food Guide: Hits & Misses to Note FreidurĂa Chupytira ☑ (Super Popular!) Address: C. TomĂĄs EcheverrĂa, 13, Carretera de CĂĄdiz, 29002 MĂĄlaga It’s a 10 - minute taxi ride from the city center and closer to the train station—perfect for your first meal in MĂĄlaga. The octopus (Photo 1) is a must! Choose between fried đŸ€© or grilled. The boiled shrimp (Photo 2) is sweet and fresh—both dishes are ordered by almost every table. The small clams (concha fina) have a texture similar to geoduck, super fresh and chewy. Skip the scallops (vieira)—the garlic sauce is bitter and spicy, so try just one if you’re curious. The fried eggplant is a surprise hit! Crispy outside, tender inside, drizzled with brown syrup for a rich, unexpected flavor. Price: €25–30 per person. Pez Wanda (Paella) ❌ Address: C. Granada, 39, Distrito Centro, 29015 MĂĄlaga We initially planned to go to the (Instagram - famous) Casa Lola (known for bad service and long lines), so we switched to this spot with a 4.6 Google rating. Sadly, it’s the worst paella I’ve had in Spain—avoid😒. El Pimpi (Fried Fish Platter) ☑ Their fried fish platter is huge! It includes all the classic seafood tapas: squid, cod, whitebait, anchovies, etc.—all for €28. The location is great, right next to Roman ruins, and the vibe is lovely. Price: €25+ per person. Oreo Cookies ☑ (Must - Try!) These are a standout—don’t miss them! The coffee here is good too, but it’s takeaway only. CafĂ©s: Mala Leche & Bueno CafĂ© ☑ Mala Leche serves great coffee, and Bueno CafĂ© (slightly larger) is also recommended. Both are perfect for a post - walk rest and photos 📾. La Cheesqueria (Basque Cheesecake) The first bite is nice, but it gets boring fast. The cheese flavor isn’t strong, and it’s greasy after a few forkfuls. P.S. I always recommend Alex Cordobes in Madrid—it’s way better! Doña Lola (in Nerja) Their garlic shrimp is legendary—so good you’ll want to drink the oil! The Secreto ibĂ©rico (Iberian pork) is also amazing. If you’re in Nerja, order without hesitation😋. Kosei Sushi ❌ We had high hopes (4.8 Google rating), but it’s a letdown. The maki has weird seasoning, and the sashimi isn’t as fresh as expected. For a €60 - per - person sushi spot, it’s a total miss. #MĂĄlagaFood #MĂĄlagaGuide #SpainEats #FoodieTips #NerjaFood
