Wisteria Gathering: Brookside Park 🌸✨

In LA, spring break schedules vary by school district — for example, South Pasadena had theirs last week, while Pasadena and Arcadia are off this week. Pretty well staggered! Now that the kids are back to school, it’s time for the moms to gather! After a few weeks apart, we planned a meetup this Friday, just in time for wisteria season. We chose Brookside Park in Pasadena — close to us in South Pasadena but somehow I’d never been! Today, two other moms and I came to scout the spot. Along the way, we drove through a long valley with impressive bridges overhead. This area is called Arroyo Seco — “Arroyo” means “stream” and “Seco” means “dry” in Spanish, so it translates to “Dry Creek.” It’s a significant natural canyon running through Pasadena, and it actually flows with water during the rainy season! 🌧️💦 The houses along the route were beautiful — tree-lined streets dotted with unique, elegant homes. This seems like a lovely neighborhood! 🏡🌳 The Arroyo Seco area is home to many famous spots, with the Rose Bowl being the most well-known. Brookside Park, south of the Rose Bowl, was first established in 1923. It offers a huge range of activities: Jackie Robinson Field (baseball), a golf course, the Kidspace Children’s Museum, the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center, and multiple playgrounds. The lawns and wooded areas look amazing, and there’s also a popular 🏃♂️ Arroyo Seco Trail perfect for walking, biking, or running — we’ll have to explore that soon! Our Friday gathering will be right here! If you’re a mom from the South Pasadena school district, introduce yourself and join us — #SpringBlossomsGathering 🌼 Pasadena Wisteria Meetup Time: This Friday, 11:00 AM – 1:30 PM Location: Brookside Park (near the Rose Bowl) Let’s enjoy the sunny spring weather and wisteria blooms together! Bring your favorite snacks, desserts, and drinks — we’ll eat, chat, and have fun! 😊 Have you been to Brookside Park? What’s your favorite spring activity in LA?
