This park is pretty nice. I enjoy walking around and using the exercise equipment. Some of the equipment needs maintenance/repairs, but most of it is in working order. It seems that folks are content to use the park for a variety of sports and other physical activities as well.
I enjoy using the Pirate ship playground, which seems to be the newest and biggest playground in the park. Most of the features work still, and the slidey thing you can hang from gives me the opportunity to swash some buckles. Avast ye, etc.
The landscape is in good condition.
The south eastern side is curious, kind of ruinous with old stone structures that look disused. It's kind of cool, but also kind of sad that the city has allowed it to become dilapidated.
The park is kept pretty clean, not a lot of litter inside the park. The knobs that tailgate in the parking lot have left pieces of themselves, trash that is, in that parking lot. The bathrooms are usually in decent condition and not too smelly. The picnic tables seem ok but I haven't really used them.
There's not much of an unhoused population which, is kind of surprising.
Occasionally I've seen coyotes, who keep a distance away. I think it's pretty cool to see them.
There is no dog park, but that doesn't stop people from taking their dogs out, pretty cute. And I don't remember seeing any dog poop left...
Read moreI like this park because it appears to be more clean than other parks we've visited.
Parking: Ample parking. I'm not sure if this is due to COVID closures of the KidSpace Museum and the Recreation Center but whenever we've visited parking was never an issue. However, I'd be careful in the lot and do not leave valuables in your car. There are suspicious characters and parties in the lot and you can't keep your eyes on your vehicle at all times.
Play Area: There are two play areas: one for small children 2-5 yrs old and another for children 5-12yrs old. The play areas are separated but that doesn't mean you won't have a mixture of children of all ages in either space. In fact, that's usually what happens. I become quite uneasy when older children and teenagers are in the small children playground WITHOUT adult supervision. It seems they tend to not consider the fact there are small children present and they need to be mindful of their space.
Recreation: People use the open spaces for baseball, soccer, kickball, and picnics/parties.
Restrooms: There are outdoor restrooms but I have...
Read moreGood place to utilize the green lawn to learn how to ride a bike. Not too crowded (just make sure there isn't any event, very popular location for the open space), lots of parking sharing facilities with the Rose Bowl. Can be stinky on the fringe where tens of big metal garage bins tried to hide. Good working(not new) semi exercise equipments (no resistance beyond gravity, just movements) all around. People tend to wheel un their own large BBQ rig to the park. If you need to do that, great. If not then just watch out for the aftermath of goo on the ground around it. Dogs everywhere. Kids playgrounds spread out. Wonderful place to be on a cool morning. It will get hot. A few water fountains available. Didn't see if it's clean enough to drink. At least one permanent bathroom out leaving temporary porta-potties your only option. Constant grooming means dealing with equipments on weekdays. If concerts or bowl games adjacent then forget about it. Parking will be gone or paid parking. Check that before...
