Work from LA๐ฃ Plant-Based Sushi & "Fish" and Chips ๐ฑ๐
I donโt usually go out of my way to eat vegetarian, but this place totally delivers that meaty satisfaction! ๐ ๐ 2937 Bristol St E 100, Costa Mesa ยท ๐ฅ Rating scale: ๐ Love ๐ Like ๐ Okay ๐ Not for me ยท Starters ๐ Roasted Yuzu Yam ๐ Roasted sweet potato drizzled with yuzu sauce โ so sweet and fragrant! The greens are baked until crispy, pairing perfectly with the soft, chewy sweet potato. ๐ ๐ ๐ฅฆ Kombu Cauliflower ๐ I usually love cauliflower starters, and this oneโs fried with a sweet glaze. Served with kombu and pickled purple cabbage โ refreshing and light! ๐ฅฌโจ ยท Japanese-Inspired Menu ๐ฃ Beet Sushi ๐ This sushi was complimentary! Uses beet as a substitute for tuna โ the texture is surprisingly close! ๐โค๏ธ ๐ Chronic Sushi Roll ๐ Tastes like a โcrab-tuna-avocado rollโ but made with mushrooms, mayo, and citrus โ and itโs delicious! Sweet and spicy combo โ so interesting! ๐ฃ๐ฅ ๐ฅ Potato Croquette ๐ Looks like fried chicken nuggets, but itโs actually a potato croquette โ a classic Japanese side dish! ยท Main Course ๐ฅ Carrotfish & Chips ๐ Fried โcarrot fishโ and chips, haha! Texture is similar to vegetable tempura, but as a main course, it didnโt quite meet expectations. Better to order more shareable small plates instead! ๐ค ยท ๐ฌ This restaurant started in Oceanside (near San Diego) and follows a farm-to-table philosophy. ๐ฟ The next day, I passed by and saw the chef trimming plants grown right outside โ they really do source their own ingredients! ๐ They donโt stick strictly to American, British, or Japanese styles, but the fusion doesnโt feel forced โ I really dig this approach! ยท ๐ Four years of working remotely โ next stop, still exploring around LA. ๐ปโ๏ธ #LAFood #IrvineEats #CostaMesaFood #TheCamp #LAVegan #WorkFromAnywhere #PlantBased #VegetarianSushi #CreativeCuisine #FarmToTable #MeatFreeSatisfaction #FoodInnovation #EcoFriendlyEats #RemoteLife #CaliforniaLiving
