Honestly, my biggest complaint about this place is that they aren't closer to east county. 🤷🏼♂️ But I'd definitely spend half a tank of gas to come here again. 🙃 I came with my Dad and this was his first full vegan meal and he's a steak n potatoes, midwestern boi so I was eager to see his reaction to it.
THERE IS A SMALL PARKING LOT BEHIND THE RESTAURANT THROUGH A CHAIN LINK FENCE WITH A BLUE SIGN TO THE LEFT OF IT THAT SAYS THE PLOT Don't miss it like my Dad did, mkay? 🙃
Got there and a decent dinner service going on. Quickly sat by the hostess and greeted by our lovely server (Jen was it? 🤔). Ordered a couple drinks and the taköyaki "kind of hush puppies". My Dad ordered kombucha (which he's never had before) and actually enjoyed it (I mean, what's not to like 😏). The hush puppies were off the chain! Warm and slightly crispy outside with a soft and flakey inside paired with a cold slaw that offers an awesome contrast of sweet/salty, warm/chilled, soft/crunchy, and some zip in the flavor as well. A very well balanced starter! Dad's opinion - he liked it! Off to a good start! Next up, we both ordered the fresh heart of palm stir fry. This dish was amazing! And my Dad loved it too! The presentation had a lot of pop to it - although I would've liked smaller pieces of the yellow pickles; they were a little tough to cut and large slices (gorgeous garnish tho). The dull butter knives had a hard time getting through the "pickle". BUT definitely not a reason for me to ding them, this dish was still on point! The contrast is texture was awesome! Plenty of crunch and chew. Flavors were spot on as well. I usually add some sort of sauce to most restaurant meals but this one didn't need it! I was full by the time I was nearing my last few bites but I couldn't stop. So I sit here type this overstuffed. #NoRagrets
At the finish of the meal we were offered desert but I was trying to make peace with the fact that i couldn't even finish my beer, I was so full. But our awesome server brought us two complimentary wellness shots that were a very potent blend of veggie/fruit juices and couple dry pepper types.
Let me tell you people now, I've taken some wellness shots in my day and I thought I could handle whatever they threw at me. But I was not prepared for that one. That shot was one spicy boi going down and for minutes after. But yo, that was still delicious tho. 🙃
All in all, this place was great! I'll have to find some time and someone to take to this spot when I can! Definitely...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at "The Plot" in Oceanside, and I must say, it was an absolutely delightful experience. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the ease of finding street parking, a rarity in many dining areas. The swift seating process was a welcome surprise, ensuring that my hunger was promptly addressed.
The food at "The Plot" was nothing short of spectacular. I ordered the Beet Reuben Sandwich and a Burrito, both of which were exceptionally well-prepared, bursting with flavor, and perfectly cooked. The ingredients were fresh, and each bite was a testament to the chef's skill and attention to detail. It's rare to find such quality in every dish, and "The Plot" certainly delivers on all fronts.
The interior design of the restaurant is satisfactory, offering a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. However, what truly sets this place apart is the beautiful garden outside, which adds a touch of authenticity and tranquility to the dining experience.
The staff at "The Plot" were notably friendly and accommodating. They were knowledgeable about the menu and took the time to explain the ingredients in each dish, which is incredibly important for anyone with food allergies. Their professionalism and warmth significantly enhanced the overall experience.
If you're in the Oceanside area and looking for a hassle-free, enjoyable dining experience, "The Plot" is unquestionably the place to go. The combination of easy parking, fast service, delicious food, and friendly staff makes this restaurant a standout. I honestly can’t say enough good things about The Plot. With a background in nutrition and as an ovo-vegetarian, I’m extremely picky about “healthy” restaurants—most either lose flavor or rely on processed ingredients. But The Plot is completely different. They serve real, whole, nourishing food that also tastes incredible. It feels like every dish is created with love and intention.
This place is beautiful—the garden where they grow their own vegetables and herbs, the stylish yet calming atmosphere—but what makes it truly special is the people.
We love the entire team, but Ruby has become like family to us. She always welcomes us with the kind of warmth that makes you feel like you’re coming home.
I have a dog and a two-year-old, which usually makes eating out stressful—kids utensils, tissues, dog water bottle, treats… total chaos. But Ruby is so patient, kind, and genuine that both my son and my dog feel safe and relaxed here. They actually sit and finish their meals—this NEVER happens anywhere else.
And on top of that, Ruby always recommends the most amazing dishes. When we’re overwhelmed by so many great options, we just follow her suggestions—and she has never, ever been wrong.
We follow their IG and just saw they have a brand new menu again (yes, they change it often—so if you don’t want to miss incredible flavors, keep an eye on it!). The pancakes and the BLT were unforgettable, and their tacos… honestly 10/10, pure love.
We come almost every month and celebrate our special days here. The Plot isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a place where we feel cared for, understood, and welcomed.
It’s the No.1 plant-based restaurant in the U.S., and you truly...
