🥟 XiBei vs. The Kingdom of Pre-Made Meals 🍅
Hey everyone~ Honestly, I’ve loved XiBei since my days back in China, so I was super excited when they opened in LA! Even with all the buzz around pre-made meals lately, this iron stomach of mine isn’t too bothered — I’ve survived street oils, mystery meats, and budget meal apps… what’s a little pre-prepped food? 😂 Plus, their quick-freeze process meets US food safety standards — everything’s sterilized before storage, and dumplings are wrapped fresh in an open kitchen! ‼️ Especially their lunch buffet — $12 per person — such great value! 🦴 Mongolian Beef Ribs – A must-order every time! Marinated and roasted fresh, not pre-made. The chili powder and pickled veggies on the side are so good. 🍯 Yogurt – Thick, creamy, and you drizzle your own honey — sweetness is up to you! 🍡 Huangmi Lianggao (Millet Cake) – Their signature dessert — like a zongzi with osmanthus honey. Delicious! 🍅 Youmian Wowot (Oat Noodle Rolls) – Classic “kaolao lao” style with a rich tomato sauce — so tasty. 🥟 Zucchini & Egg Steamed Dumplings – Light, sweet, and tender. 🐟 Youmian Yuyu (Oat “Fish” Noodles) – Looks small but super filling — I love it in the tomato soup. 🥢 Mongolian Shaomai – Not really my thing. The wrapper was thin but tough. 🍗 Big Plate Chicken – Big letdown this time — chicken was super dry, broth was overly spicy. Only the oat spiral noodles were okay. They always give out vouchers after meals, so it’s pretty wallet-friendly to return. The best deal is definitely the $12 lunch buffet — tomato egg stir-fry, braised chicken with potatoes, stir-fried pork, fried fish, and more! For LA Chinese food at this level and price, I think it’s totally decent 🥢. #LAFoodReview #LAEats #LAFood #LALife #SanGabrielValleyFood #SGVFood #SGV 🥡
