💙 Yellowknife Aurora Trip: Ultra-Detailed Guide
✨ Dog sledding (it’s recommended to choose self-driving; if not, a sled will carry around seven or eight people. 🌈 You’ll circle a lake, and you’ll definitely be amazed by the great energy of these small dogs.🐶 It’s windy, so keep warm,🌞 especially your face. It’s best to wear sunglasses 🕶️for wind protection.) ✨ Ice fishing (this is only available when the ice is thick enough in December. From others’ guides, it seems really fun, but it’s a bummer the activity isn’t open in November.)👀 ✨ Snowmobiling (also requires thick ice to operate. It looks super exciting, but also really cold—workers at the dog sledding site were riding them, and they could barely their faces).❄️❄️ It seems there are hiking activities when the latter two aren’t open, but that sounded boring, so we skipped them. 🍜🍜 If interested, you can ask travel agencies.😛😛 📍 Yellowknife City Hall On the first floor of the city hall, you can get a personalized Arctic Circle certificate with a stamp and a Yellowknife commemorative pin.🌻🌧️ There’s a polar bear specimen in the room, and there’s also one at the museum and the airport. ✈️There’s plenty of information on clothing rentals, activities, aurora-chasing tours, and airport transfers.😍😍 The specific location is shown in picture 1 of the guide. 🙊🙊 Walking straight along the right side of the road outside leads to a park and a lake with great views.🍃🎋 📍 Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Center The museum has four galleries introducing history, vegetation, animals🐯🦁🐮, and culture. I loved the many animal specimens. There’s a café after the tour, and downstairs is a kids’ activity area (adults are welcome too) with puppets, an ice hockey game table, a log cabin tent, and local featured clothes to try on for photos. 🦋🐢 The staff even gave us museum commemorative pins.👉👈 📍 YK Center Our guide said it’s the largest local mall, but it’s just a place to wander.😘😘 You can take a photo with the real-time temperature sign at the entrance as a souvenir.🍃 📍 Ragged Ass RD It became a street because of an album with the same name. 🌤️ It features colorful houses perfect for photos. Located in the old town, it’s recommended to stay in the new town and take a taxi there (around $10); walking the one or two kilometers is too cold.❄️❄️ 📍 Just Fur A fur shop in a small cabin selling scarves, hats, gloves, etc. It’s on the way to the fish restaurant. 🍚🍱🍲 They say you can get tax-free purchases if you chat nicely with the owner. (The store’s appearance is shown in picture 1 of the guide.)🌼 📍 Bush Pilots Monument☘️ The monument is near the fish restaurant, at Yellowknife’s highest point with an observation deck.👉👈 It’s best to go in the evening for stunning views—you can see Great Slave Lake, Yellowknife Bay, the distant new town, and nearby boathouses. 🍐🎼 The sun sets early, so plan your time well.🐮 📍 Weaver Devore Trading LTD.🌷 A general store across from the fish restaurant. The first floor has daily necessities, and the second floor has cold-weather gear. 👣 The biggest draw is Canada Goose—advantages are 5% tax and discounts; the downside is limited styles and sizes.🖐️ #Yellowknife #Aurora #Lighthouse #Nightview
