Yellowknife is worth a visit, but once is enough.

Yellowknife Aurora Diary🌼 💐My friends and I set off from Montreal, passed through Calgary, spent some time in Banff (which was really beautiful), and then flew to Yellowknife to chase the auroras.🐵 What can I say about Yellowknife? 😼 👉👈The town is really tiny, with not much to explore. Unless you go for those paid snow activities, there’s really nowhere to kill time during the day. 🐛 🕊️Activities like dog🐶 sledding, snowmobiling, and watching ice fishing 🐟all cost between 120-170 CAD. 🤲We didn’t do any of them—I have to say they’re really expensive. 🌳 👀It’s better to just go skiing a few times instead.🍃 🍡The town is so small that you can walk👣 to the supermarket in ten minutes or so. 💊 It was my first time experiencing that feeling of stepping outside for five minutes and finding myself looking like a white-haired old person . 😂 It was really exaggerated.🍒 🌹We tried that popular internet-famous restaurant, and honestly, the food wasn’t good at all... 🥑 That’s when we were grateful we’d booked🎒 an Airbnb. We could cook freely in the kitchen🐔 those days, which saved my stomach. 🍃We went to the town’s lookout, where we could overlook the entire Yellowknife .🍉 Unexpectedly, we caught a glimpse of a rainbow 🌨️there. 🍀 You can also go to the visitor center to get a golden Yellowknife badge and visit the Yellowknife Museum🌈💨—other than that, there’s not much else. We came here specifically for the auroras. We booked aurora tours for two nights. On the first night, they took us to chase the lights by bus. 🚌 🚲We were lucky to see a moderate outbreak, with green and red auroras dancing. 💃🏻 On the second night, we waited for the lights at a camp.🧢 The camp had a bonfire and a hut to keep warm,🌞 but the aurora display was not as good as the first night. The camp felt a bit underwhelming; personally, I think the bus tour is more flexible for chasing the lights. P.S. You really have to rent their shoes👟. On the first night, wearing my own shoes, I felt like my toes would freeze off in ten minutes. #Yellowknife #Aurora #TravelDiary
