Yokohama Yakitori – A Cozy Taste of Japan Over Charcoal Fire

I stumbled upon a gem in San Diego last weekend—Yokohama Yakitori! As soon as I stepped inside, the aroma of charcoal-grilled skewers filled the air, and I could see the chef carefully tending to the grill behind the counter. The atmosphere was warm and inviting 🌟 🍖 The yakitori platter is a must-try! We ordered chicken gizzard, blood vessels, heart, skin, and beef tongue. Each skewer was perfectly grilled—the gizzard was crispy, the beef tongue tender yet chewy, the heart juicy, and the chicken skin surprisingly soft instead of crispy. The seasoning was just right, with the smoky flavor infused into every bite. Absolutely delicious! 😋 🍛 The curry rice with onsen egg and beef was decent. The egg oozed out beautifully when cut, and the beef was braised until tender. However, it didn’t stand out as much as the yakitori. If you have room, give it a try, but I’d recommend saving space for more skewers 😌 🥣 The pork and radish stew was a bit too salty for my taste. Although the radish was soft and sweet, and the pork flavorful, I needed water after a few sips 🫗 I mistakenly thought it would be like oden, so be sure to check the menu carefully! An unexpected delight was the fried chicken skin! I meant to order fried chicken but ended up with this instead—and it was wonderfully crispy! Like potato chips, it paired perfectly with mayo. A happy accident 👏 🍮 Dessert deserves full marks! Matcha ice cream with matcha cheesecake—the cake was warm, dense like brownies, and rich with bittersweet matcha flavor. Together with the cool, creamy ice cream, it was the perfect ending to the meal 💚 The prices here are reasonable, around $30 per person for a satisfying meal. Watching the chef grill over charcoal adds to the cozy experience. I’ll definitely be back! 📍 Yokohama Yakitori 💡 Recommendations: yakitori platter, fried chicken skin, matcha dessert #SanDiegoEats #Yakitori #CharcoalGrill #FoodDiscovery #FoodieDiary #EverydayEats #FoodLover
