Young Dong Tofu — The Beloved Tofu Soup of So Many in LA 🥹

Hey everyone! On chilly LA winter nights, there’s nothing better than a steaming-hot stone pot tofu stew 🍲 Crack an egg into it, pair it with banchan and rice 🍚 — pure comfort! Young Dong Tofu is truly the white moonlight of tofu soup for countless Angelenos 🌙 The lines are always buzzing — who hasn’t tried it yet? Not allowed! ❌ 📍 Young Dong Tofu 927 E Las Tunas Dr, San Gabriel, CA 91776 🚫 There are many “Young Dong” spots, but they’re not the same brand! 🥣 Tofu Soup Combos are super budget-friendly — most are priced in the $20s, with lunch specials too! The tofu is incredibly soft and silky, and the broth is fragrant and inviting. As soon as your pot arrives, still bubbling ♨️, crack an egg right in! The runny yolk + melt-in-your-mouth tofu + savory kimchi broth is everything. I find it slightly lighter than BCD’s version — so warm and cozy, I’m obsessed. 😍 🥟 Korean-Style Soup Dumplings are a nice change once in a while — not bad at all! But in my heart, Jinling’s pork xiaolongbao with rich soup inside will always be my #1 🥇 🥩 Pork Cutlet is truly jumbo-sized — huge portion! The breading is on the thicker side — depends on your preference. I personally love that extra crispy crust! The curry is rich, thick, and comforting — perfect for an occasional treat 🍛 🥕 Japchae (Stir-Fried Glass Noodles) is solid Korean fare — carrots 🥕, mushrooms 🍄, greens 🥬, egg strips 🍳, beef 🐂, wood ear mushrooms, all tossed with fragrant sesame oil. So flavorful and never greasy — plus the portion is massive! I often have leftovers for lunch the next day. 🍚 Stone Pot Bibimbap — hearty, healthy, and oh-so-satisfying. Who can resist mixing up your own delicious bowl of Korean goodness? I love the San Gabriel location — nestled in the SGV, it’s always packed and buzzing with energy. Compared to BCD, the price is more competitive, and the flavor wins me over every time. They even have heater lamps 🔥 and hot tea 🍵 outside now, so waiting in line feels a bit cozier too ♨️ #LAEats #LALife #LAFoodExploration #LAKoreanFood #LAFoodFinds #LAKoreanCuisine #SGVFood
