Your Ultimate Guide to Midnight Sun Adventu

Just returned from an unforgettable late June road trip in Alaska—where the sun never sets and the landscapes never stop amazing! From endless mountain ranges to vast meadows and wild forests, Alaska in summer is pure magic. Here are some practical tips I learned along the way: 🧥 1. Pack a Rain Jacket & Layers Summer days can be warm and sunny, but glaciers and ocean breezes are COLD! ❄️ On cruise tours near glaciers, temperatures drop sharply – you’ll be shivering even with a jacket. 🌧️ Rain is frequent – waterproof gear is a must. 👖 Avoid shorts – opt for long pants to protect from bugs and wind. 🦟 2. Bug Spray is NON-NEGOTIABLE Alaskan mosquitoes are no joke – they’re big, bold, and everywhere! 🛒 Buy a green can of “OFF!” after you arrive – spray generously on skin and clothes. 🚗 Your windshield will be covered in bugs after driving – bring wipers and cleaner. 🧥 Cover up – long sleeves and pants are your best friends. 🍎 3. Bring Snacks & Supplies Outside Anchorage and Fairbanks, services are limited. 🛒 Stock up on food, water, and gas before hitting remote roads like AK-4. 🧺 Have a picnic – pull over somewhere beautiful and enjoy the view! 🔭 4. Bring Binoculars Perfect for spotting wildlife in Denali or on boat tours. 🦌 Denali in summer feels like a safari – bears, moose, caribou! 🍂 Fall might be better for colorful landscapes, but summer is great for animals. 🚧 5. Plan for Road Delays Summer = construction season in Alaska! ⏳ Roads often reduce to one lane – be patient and build buffer time. 🛑 Flaggers may hold traffic for 10-20 minutes – don’t rush. ❤️ 6. One Trip is Not Enough! We barely scratched the surface… 🗻 Wrangell-St. Elias National Park took our breath away – snowy peaks under pink-purple sunset skies. ✈️ Next time: glacier hiking, flightseeing, and more! Alaska is vast, wild, and humbling. Leave room for spontaneity – some of the best views aren’t on the itinerary! #US #Alaska #Anchorage #Wrangell-St. Elias National Park
