Zagreb Food & Travel Diary

🄐 Bakeries & Quick Bites āœ…Duravica (chain bakery) – Delicious €1.9-2.1 pizza slices & assorted pastries (sweet/savory) for just €1-2! āœ…Dinara Bakery – Our go-to breakfast spot near the iconic Red Umbrella Market (thanks to staying at Kaptol Hostel right across from Zagreb Cathedral). āœ…El Greco (Greek fast food on foodie street Ul. Ivana Tkalčića) – Went twice! Highlights: šŸ„™Gyros Sandwich (€6): Chicken = tender, pork = chewy (in a good way). šŸ„™Pitta Bread & Besant Salad (€7.5) with refreshing Greek yogurt dressing (because veggies are a luxury in Europe!). šŸ½ļø Restaurants šŸ„™Nokturno (on charming Skalinska ul.) – Packed with outdoor seating! Ordered: šŸ°Spaghetti Bolognese (best meat sauce ever!) šŸ°Black Risotto & "Special" Pizza (aka ham-mushroom) šŸ°Left a few € tip (apparently a Zagreb custom). šŸ›ļø Local Souvenirs & Shopping šŸKredenca – A boutique gift shop (not your average fridge magnets!) selling: šŸLocal wines (tried Fiumhnka – sweet-spicy & unique! Bought a 200ml bottle for €14). šŸHandmade soaps, spices & crafts. ā˜•Müller (on Ban Jelačić Square) – 5-floor supermarket with everything (even rare Ravensburger puzzles!). ā˜•Croatia’s Best Ice Cream (also on the square) – Looked adorable, but didn’t get to try. Anyone confirm if it’s truly the best? šŸ“š Culture & Markets 🌹Znanje Bookstore – Great for books, local puzzles (stationery lovers, this is your spot!). 🌹Red Umbrella Market – Right by Zagreb Cathedral! Stocked up on fresh fruits, veggies, cheeses & Croatian cured meats (basement has more stalls). #ZagrebEats #CroatianFood #RedUmbrellaMarket #ZagrebRestaurants
