Being a tourist with multinational bunch of friends in Zagreb, we were looking for an eatery with variety of options on the menu, crowed with locals (always a good sign), located in the downtown and pocket-friendly. All this describes Nokturno perfectly. Menu is totally extensive, ranging from pizza to main courses with fish, chicken, pork, veal, seafood and so on. Portions are generous, main course alone was enough for me to satisfy my day-long hunger. One of the friends wasn't happy with the soup he order and barely touched it, the waiter noticing it removed it from the bill without any argueing. Overall customer service experience is excellent: bills were prepared for separate paying as we requested, which created issues at some places; as we asked the way back to out hotel, the guys tried their best to explain it to us. The restaurant itself is spacious, having outside and inside seatings, for couple and groups, for lunch and a beer sip, for smoker and non-smoker. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food and place itself, as well as downtown location close to historical part of the city. Strongly recommended for visiting.

Absolutely recommend if you're looking for something to eat around the old part of the city. I doubt you'll find a better quality to price ratio. The first thing that struck me as odd is how long the menu was, a lot of options. Normally I would consider this to be a negative thing, because it normally comes at a cost to the food quality. The next thing you notice is how low the food price is. We ordered štrukli with bacon and truffle to share, black risotto (with squid) and octopus ragout. The dishes were all very tasty, and the portion sizes were as good as one and a half portion or double portion. Taking the low price into account, you'll come out satisfied and at a low cost. Waiters were very kind but a bit slow to take orders. This might be due to how full the restaurant was. Waiting time between ordering and receiving the food, however, was not long at all. All in all, I will definitely return here next time I'm in the city, we really enjoyed it.

My wife and I have been visiting this street lined with outdoor patios for over 20 years and sadly it’s seen better days. The restaurant as I once knew it is definitely different, maybe new management, but the pride of ownership is lacking. The food quality was good, not exceptional, large in quantity and reasonably priced. Beer choices have changed and unfortunately Croatian beer has taken a backseat as they have none on tap! (Liquor supplier has changed according to our server). Service was good, most servers were friendly and easy to deal with. We ordered fried calamari to start, and unknowing to us charged $2.50 E for each tartar sauce (we had 2 and think it should be included). Main dishes we had were; Gnocchi, which was quite heavy and big portioned. Pizza Nocturno (large, good ingredients, well cooked, medium crust thickness. (I remember it being much thinner before). This is my go to food order when I visit. Can easily be split between 2 people. Linguini, good sized portion for the big eaters. Octopus salad, which I did not try, but was told it was excellent. Unfortunately we could not sit on the patio, as we were a party of 5 and could not be accommodated. Interior was ok, not my favourite ambiance (felt more like fast food). Washrooms need to be redone. Not enjoyable to use, broken toilets, and graffiti on the walls. I don’t like using them, and feeling dirtier than before its use. 0 stars for the washrooms, and the ladies felt the same way. Overall, sad to say, we will not be revisiting as the standards have dropped and there are better establishments to spend your time with family and friends at.

To be honest, this is the worst experience I’ve ever had in a restaurant. I usually come here because food is excellent and the price is affordable. Today I’ve been here with 2 of my friends and staff was so mean to us for no reason. First I’ve orderd wine and the waiter asked me if I’m sure I want to order it because it is expensive. I said I’m sure but he kept telling me that it is a really fine wine and has a bigger price (as I couldn’t afford it). Finally we ordered and my friend found a strand of fabric so we told the waiter and he was obviously mad at us, as it was our fault. After I ate more than half of my meal I found short hair in pasta (like male arm hair). I wasn’t really mad of it but I had to tell them that it is not okay to serve food like that. I know that it is not on purpose and I didn’t report a mistake hoping I would get free meal, but the waiter started a drama and told us that it is impossible for it to happen and that i’ve put the hair in my food on purpose (I told him it is impossible because I wax and my hair is in a bun the whole time). As he continue to accuse us we paid and left. Im never going there again and that was for sure my worst resturant experience.

LOCATION & ATMOSPHERE In the very city center, 1 minute of walking from the main square. They have a really nice terrace and inside space which is okay, nothing special. SERVICE In a rush but they try to give their best. For example, my friend ordered a glass of water 4 times and managed to get it after around 10 minutes. At least they try. PRICE Very affordable prices when we take location into consideration. FOOD I took lasagne “Nokturno” which were plain and nothin special, really. My friend who ordered soup and main dish got them at the same time so the main dish had an opportunity to get cold while he was eating the soup. My second friend ordered one meal but got another, yet they apologized and corrected it so all good. OVERALL This is a well known average quality cheap prices place to eat in the city center. If you are a poor tourist, feel free to come, you will not pay that much. If you are looking for something more, skip this.

Nokturno is one of the most known restautans in famous Skalinska street in Zagreb where you can eat at affordable price in the centre of capital city. I have been there several times and I can say that you can eat better food on several other locations. Last time I had a pawn risotto with saffron, zucchini and rucola and it was such a disappointment. The texture was nice, rice was cooked properly, flavours were there but the paws had a very unpleasant odour which ruined everything. I have explained the problem to the staff member but untill the end of the dinner I have not gotten the reason caused my complain nor the professional apology. Such a move is not professional and is kind of rude. Final opinion based on the other tested dishes: mediocre food, service, ambient, non-corresponding prices for the offer. Save youself some time an make several steps further and have much better meal at Leonardo restaurant.
