After being handed a menu the moment we sat down and seeing a few tables with food the initial impression was quite positive. We both ordered the Soup du Jour which we were told was chicken soup. As we had tried this at another restaurant and enjoyed it again we had high hopes... What arrived was a lukewarm bowl of what I can only assume was Campbell's Cream of Chicken soup with a lemon wedge and some bread. Maybe it was a local brand of tinned soup and I'm completely wrong or maybe the 'chef' has a talent for giving their soup the exact flavour profile/texture of the above tinned soup including the reconstituted chicken chunks.
I don't usually waste my time leaving bad reviews but as a chef if I thought one of my staff had served this I would tell them to remove their chef whites and take up a job as a KP.
The waiter took our bowls without asking if everything was ok and didn't care when we got up to leave so maybe he was embarrassed too?
The lemon and the bread was lovely and I don't mind a tin of Campbell's soup but even my Kitchen Porter could manage to heat it up in the microwave correctly.
From the leftovers on the table next to us and the disgruntled ladies complaining about their meal we clearly weren't...
Read moreKROI Restaurant in Kruja is a fantastic spot for anyone looking to enjoy good food in a charming, historic setting. The restaurantâs location is ideal, offering breathtaking views of the city and surrounding mountains, which made our dining experience even more special.
The menu has a wide variety of traditional Albanian dishes, and everything we tried was fresh and flavorful. The grilled meats were perfectly cooked, and the local specialties really stood out. Portions were generous, and the presentation was lovely.
The service was attentive and friendly, though a bit slow at times, which is why Iâm giving it four stars instead of five. However, the staff was welcoming and made sure we were comfortable throughout the meal.
The atmosphere is warm and cozy, making it a great place to relax after exploring Krujaâs old bazaar and castle. I would definitely recommend KROI to anyone visiting the city â it's a wonderful mix of tradition, taste, and...
Read moreNice decor suggesting it's a fancy restaurant. Prices shove average (byrek for 500 leke). Terrible service - there were 8 waiters and only 10 tables were occupied by guests, but still they had problems with service and it took to long to catch a waiter to ask for the receipt. Food way below expectations. Byrek with spinach and rice (!) Had barely any taste, had to add salt by myself (and put personal taste i use little salt and usually find restaurant dishes oversalted). Spinach goes will either crunchy in salads or wilted in other dishes. Here it had unpleasant undercooked consistency The other kind (thought it would be with cheese) had barely any cheese and rice again, tasteless. Pizza capricciosa per menu should contain salami, prosciutto, mushrooms and olives, see the picture for reality - cheapest canned ham, pickled mushrooms. Even the dough - despite being properly baked - was...
