Pros:

Accommodating manager found us a table for 4 quickly without prior booking on a busy night

Tom yum excellent as good as ones had in Thailand

Beef Ramen delicious obviously Raman in Japan is out of this world but the one served at Bonsai is something to be proud of, great job

Miso flavoursome they add their own twist to it which for us really worked, well done

Grilled octopus very tasty but slightly on the chewy side not a big deal though as it is to be expected for such a big tentacule

Panna Cotta lovely but would have preferred it without the sirop which was too sweet and artificial

Nigiri good but wasabi paste lacked the expected flavour and spicy kick

Overall generous portions compared to your typical Japanese or Thai restaurants

Downstairs table area at the back scorching hot, I must admit a ramen on a hot August day in North Africa may have not been the wisest choice but we wanted to try it and it was great however made us sweat profusely

Uncomfortable bar stool type chairs too short or table too high whichever way you want to look at it. Ok I am not the tallest guy in the world but as soon as I sat down I felt like I needed a bib, never felt that way on a bar stool before, please get them replaced..

My wife’s napkin had a massive lipstick kiss on it not an artistic pattern but an actual one probably from a previous customer, some may find this glamorous but quite frankly it was rather gross!

Many items from the menu were unavailable, like a whole page and more, no apologies from the waiter ( shame as we really wanted to try the Ceviche )

Tartares ordered both salmon and tuna, came on rice and no sauce so looked more like a minced fish nigiri, if you love tartare then please don’t bother as you will be disappointed

Found a piece of plastic in the ramen, this bit needs to be taken seriously as nobody wants to ingest plastic into their system

Waiter, not a man of many words for sure, although seemed like he was having a bad day we thought deep down a kind person at heart offered our daughter a lovely bracelet..thank you

Limited dessert choice, in fact only panna cotta available when the evening was still young

Our table was left crammed with empty plates until almost the very end, please try to clear gradually

Alright, overall has great potential some of the dishes we had were outstanding particularly the soups which tipped the balance over to four stars instead of three. Worth a try particularly that options are limited in this space in Algiers, keep an open mind

A decent Asian style restaurant in Algiers. They serve Japanese Viet & Thai dishes from spring rolls to a variety of sushi. The indoor design is cool and makes you feel travelling away. If you're a sushi lovers for sure you will like this restaurant. Fish quality is acceptable, the fresh tuna was a bit chewy, the rice was maybe too sugared likely this is how local people expect it to be? The noodles style yakisoba were tasty, would be better not to overcook the noodles and reduce the sweet taste aside that I ate it all. The chicken skewers were good but the satay sauce can't be called satay, not bad but where was the delicate taste of coconut? It reminded me more of a gravy sauce... The staff was nice but 100% male, one would expect a mix in an Asian style restaurant. Next time I will try other dishes and continue to share with you...

After lots of hype online and as a massive fan of Asian food, I decided to try this restaurant for my birthday and I liked it. The food was tasty and fresh, the shrimp noodles were definitely on point. The sushi was great and full of flavor, but unfortunately a lot of the rolls on the menu were unavailable, so we chose different ones, and I really liked all of them. The waiter/service was alright as well, a bit slow though. Even though the experience was pleasant overall, the reason why I gave it 4 stars out of 5 is because I was expecting a lot more, especially after looking at the prices and videos Online. My expectations were extremely high, so I was satisfied but still sliiightly disappointed when compared to what people say about this place 😂 It's still worth a try nonetheless and I'd probably go back there...
