We have lived in Zaragoza, Spain, for 27 years and eat paella almost every week, so we know what a proper paella should be. This restaurant was highly recommended to us, but unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing.
The paella was not cooked properly â the rice was undercooked, and the dish served had nothing to do with an authentic paella. When the waiter upstairs noticed that we were struggling to eat, he was very professional and kind, offering to bring something else. That was appreciated.
However, the behavior of the person at the reception was shockingly rude and unprofessional. When we were leaving, he presented the unfinished paella and insisted, âYou all tried it; there is nothing wrong with it,â instead of listening to our feedback. While we explained that the rice was not cooked, the restaurant owner joined the conversation only to say, âYou didnât like it, but others do,â and even added that he buys the rice at an expensive price. Honestly, why should customers care about how expensive the rice is when the dish is not edible?
Instead of apologizing or offering a simple âsorry you couldnât finish your dinner,â which would have been the professional thing to do, they kept arguing and explaining how paella is cooked â as if we donât know paella after decades of experience.
This attitude was shocking. The cashierâs behavior, in particular, was very rude and almost aggressive, making us feel extremely uncomfortable. We left without dinner and disappointed.
If you want to improve, train your chefs, improve your customer service, and learn not to take customer feedback personally. Until then, we will never return. This was one of the worst dining...
