I'm just here to say that if you're in Antigua and you haven't tried it, go 🗣NOWWWW! If you are not, on your next visit, go there.
My husband and I decided to have a relaxing day of swimming and relaxation at Darkwood Beach. But like any beach enthusiast knows, after some swimming, eventually, the hunger kicks in. We decided to check out this spot after my trusted cousin told me about it.
Well, let me tell you. Words alone don't do it justice. From the breeze to the service to the smiles to the fooooood. Everything was so goooood.
The coconut crush was excellent. Then the food came out. I nearly licked the foil it was so good. I had the Stewed chicken and hubby had Fungi and Fish. Side note: $25 Stewed Chicken meal in MD (USA) gets me stewed chicken, rice and peas, and cabbage/carrot. $25 Stewed chicken meal in Antigua got me chicken, rice and peas, macaroni and cheese pie, Cole slaw, ground provision, green salad.
Aunty Cavell's is the right name because I don't know how many neices and nephews she has, but now, she's my Aunty too.
Awesome food and service. Great ambiance....
Read moreIt's the food for me. For the uninitiated, eat anything that is offered here. Cavell's is an EXCELLENT restaurant. I do not say this lightly. I come from a family of amazing cooks, I would also say that I am a good cook, and therefore I HATE to pay for food that's just "ok". I hadn't visited in a year because of curfews, and I had forgotten how amazing the food was. I have never had a bad meal there (although I have not eaten everything on the menu). The reuniting meal that nearly brought me to tears was the fungi and conch. The fungi was possibly the best I have ever tasted (I say "possibly" so that I don't risk offending all the elite fungi making friends out there who might read and withdraw future invitations). And the conch was melt in your mouth soft and flavourful. I once worked in an office where each week one brave soul would sacrifice themselves to the possibility of reprimand to make the one and a half hour round trip to grab lunch for the team. It is...

They gave us small fans to control the flies which I loved but those flies are like ninjas. Drinks: We ordered the famous rum punch and it doesn't have that name for no reason. It was very good and the nutmeg gave it a real kick.
Food: **Curried Goat 7/10 ** Oxtail 8/10
Pricing was just right. I even ordered a piece of rum cake to go which I enjoyed. Ordered a Soursop juice as well. Very tasty. I observed other food options such as a whole fish, lobster and more.
We had no complains and we even got the chance to see Aunty Cavell she was so sweet.
If you're looking to just chill out, listen to music and look at the beach across the street this would be a...
