Sadly my friend and I had a very disappointing experience during the Islands Restaurant Week at Wild Tamarind Restaurant. Firstly, on arrival they appeared to have 'lost' our reservation, we were then made to wait in the hot sun at security for 15 minutes, instead of being welcomed in, when they decided they had "found" our reservation again, no apology was made and we were told to drive down to the carpark, which was a dustbowl and building site. Upon finding the restaurant we were seated and served drinks within a short time, but we were not shown all menu options available, but only the Island Restaurant week offer menu card. We were not served our food until 1 hour later, when the food came it was tiniest of appetizer samplers, the bill for two of us for the appetizer samplers came to137US and worst of all, we left Wild Tamarind feeling hungry and very disappointed of our overall experience. On reaching out and letting the operations Manager know about our overall experience his response was next time we are dining there again, to let him know we are there and he will give us a discount, but he suddenly became very agitated and shockingly irritated when we said that we would not pay for a second experience of the same thing! He then took our number and said he would "call us back to see what could be done", but it's been four days and we've not heard a thing and have definitely been ignored!! Infact, we tried to call the restaurant number back again a few time's since but there's no response, we tried reaching out one last time calling the main hotel number before posting this review to see if the matter could be rectified with the restaurant operations manager but unfortunately we could not get any response. After our overall experience and the way we have been treated we feel it's only fair to post about our disappointing experience after having made several attempts to resolve the issue in the usual manner, but we feel that we have been denied this opportunity due to...
Read morePerfect for a day at the beach, drinks with friends, or a romantic dinner. Wild Tamarind Beach Club is currently one of my top recommendations for restaurants/bars in Antigua.
It is not cheap. In US currency, starters cost $20, mains cost $40, and desserts are $15. The drinks cost $15 each which is expensive for Antigua.
The menu is not extensive with 5 starters, 5 mains, and 5 desserts listed (the chef was very willing to prepare off menu items or make adjustments based on requests). However, the food and cocktails were absolutely delicious, and completely worth the splurge.
The service was absolutely perfect. The staff is extremely well trained. They were extremely attentive. They anticipated our needs, and proactively doing little things to make us comfortable. At the same time, they were not intrusive in any way, never hovering, or lingering near the table, etc. They were also very friendly without being inappropriate. We took several of their suggestions, and were very pleased.
The restaurant and the surroundings are also absolutely stunning. You are literally on one of the most amazing beaches, so the view is amazing. But the restaurant itself is beautifully designed to give a modern, casual Caribbean vibe that sets the perfect tone.
I do not hesitate to recommend this place if you are able to afford it, or looking for a place to treat...
Read moreWe had a fabulous night last night at the Wild Tamarind. We had a 45 min drive to get to the restaurant from our resort, and it was so worth it. We arrived with reservations at 6 pm. Our server Davincia was absolutely exceptional throughout the night. Davincia walked down to the beach with us and took a family photo, and she was happy to do it. When ordering our food, we asked for some additions, and the response was, "we can absolutely make it happen for you." Without hesitation, they are willing to go the extra mile for their customers. It also shows confidence in the chef and team. The food was amazing! We had the seared tuna and beet mozzarella appetizers, the shrimp curry with an added filet of snapper, and 2 snapper catch of the day entrées. They were all fantastic! The desserts were great as well. There was a gentleman playing guitar and singing, and it was absolutely delightful. He had an amazing voice, and my husband and I even had a dance. At the end of the night, the musician, along with the restaurant, sang happy birthday to me. What an unforgettable evening. Thank...
