I’m surprised to write this review, but had a rather poor food experience at Anafe tonight. My girlfriend and I were seated in the outdoor section by a lovely host and were excited for the variety of starters we ordered from the menu. Unfortunately, the service progressively worsened throughout the evening and the food fell far short of the price and expectations:

  1. we were relatively unattended to throughout our meal - it seemed the staff wasn’t really aware of where we were at in our meal because of things like our completely empty plates sitting for 20 minutes before I motioned to someone that we were finished;
  2. the service team seemingly forgot a dish, finally bringing the mushrooms 30 minutes after everything else had been eaten and without any previous notice that they were delayed or being served progressively, by which point we had asked for the check and even had our plates cleared (I.e. some of the staff members clearing our plates didn’t even know we had anything else coming from our previous order, as we didn’t know by that point either);
  3. sorry to say it, but what we had of the food was relatively flat - not one item of what we had (carpaccio, sweet potato dish, pate) stuck with us as being worth the service or price, so we elected to not order anything else (mains, dessert) and leave. The Vietnamese carpaccio lacked a strong enough acid and could use more fish-sauce-forward flavor, the pate was uninspired, and the sweet potato needed some acid and more of its pomegranate topping to cut the sauce it was served with;
  4. there were two separate beggars that made rounds through the entire outdoor seating area - all the diners in the section were uncomfortable at being personally asked for money while eating their meals, and the staff elected to just ignore the activity and continue to complete their service around it. While I can understand empathy and not wanting to cause confrontation, it also made for a strange dining ambiance that I doubt I or the others at the restaurant would elect for again. I would have appreciated one of the staff members inviting us to an indoor area or otherwise deflecting the activity so we could focus on our meal.

I doubt I’ll return to dine here, and would encourage others to seek any of the other great restaurants out in this area!! We have had some of the best food of our lives in this city, and based on this experience will encourage others elsewhere at...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Anafe in Buenos Aires, and it was an unforgettable culinary experience. From the moment we walked in, we knew we were in for a treat. The modern and sleek decor sets the tone for a sophisticated evening, while the warm and welcoming staff make you feel like part of the family.

We started with the beef tartare, which was absolutely delicious. The meat was tender and flavorful, with just the right amount of seasoning. Next, we tried the smoked eggplant, which was incredible. The eggplant was silky and smooth, with a deep smoky flavor that paired perfectly with the creamy sauce. And the cured fish? Also incredibly delicious. The fish was tender and flaky, with a nice balance of saltiness and sweetness.

But the main event was the bone-in rib eye. Oh, my goodness. The meat was cooked to perfection - juicy, tender, and with just the right amount of pink in the middle. It was truly a culinary masterpiece. The flavors were rich and deep, with a nice char on the outside that added a nice textural element. I was in heaven!

The service was also top-notch. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable, helping us navigate the menu and making spot-on recommendations. The wine list was impressive, with a great selection of Argentine wines that paired perfectly with our meal.

In short, Anafe is a must-visit destination for any food lover. With its exceptional service, stunning decor, and most importantly, incredible cuisine, it's an experience you won't soon forget. Five...

Let's give you an unbiased, for the regular Joe, don't believe the hype, review. Here's the skinny -- There's a reason why Anafe was named one of the best restaurants in the world, the food really is tasty. It's subtle. It's perfectly balance. Is it the type of flavor explosion that makes you lick your fingertips and write home about? Nope, not really. It's sophisticated, the kind of place you go once, with someone you want to impress, but then write-off. It's not one of those benchmarks you adopt into your routine. The type that makes you go: "yup, tried it once... Mind not blown." What it does have is excellent service. I mean the staff is attentive, thoughtful, and not intrusive -- they know when to dodge your table. The decor, well, nothing out of this world. It's a type of place that's a bit smug and the ambiance and clientele reinforce that idea. They type of place you want to be seen at. So what should you expect? Average to high prices, particularly when it comes to their wine list. Small, and I mean small - you will need a microscope to see - portions. Oh, and tiny cans of beer. Everything is quaint, everything is nice, everything is what you'd expect by the branding and marketing. Was I disappointed? Not in the least. It is what it promised. No false...

The only really good dish was pate. Starting from the door experience (we had a reservation outside and asked to sit inside since our reservation was at 8 and there was no one at the restaurant, they told us to wait by the door, even when I asked if we can we grab a glass of wine while we were waiting, they seated multiple tables from outside to inside but still we had to wait!). We ordered as they recommended 5-8 dishes and bottle of orange wine (which turned out to be regular white sav blanc). We got out appetizers and had to wait for the rest of the dishes for 30+ mins. Steak was so chewy that my jaw hurt (should’ve been medium rare). Overall not sure what’s the fuzz about. Good food but not great. Another dish that was above the average was Pavlova dessert. Also our check had extra items.

Tried the : Tartar de Ciervo, Girgolas, Pesca Curada, Carpaccio Vietnamita, and last but not least, the Profiterol. What can I say? The plating is not as visually striking as Julia, and it doesn't have the romantic flair of La Favorita de Palermo. Anafe turns out to be something else : if one only pretended for a casual wine-pairing lunch, then one ended-up joining the Comensales' choir of Wows&requeteWows. This place lures you in with its light-looking-weight but it actually plays it heavy. So watch-out competitors, there is a new staple place you will now be compared to- ANAFE (heart emoticon). +Update : went back and tried the rest of the menu. We needed a bigger table and absolutely everything was just lovely.
