Ferroviario Restaurant is known and kept in high regards by all, every time its name is brought to conversation and its fame stands for a well-earned reason. The restaurant is on site of the Union of Railway Workers, as an annex to the main buildings. As such, its decour lends itself to be quite unique. Proof of that be, that they welcome the customer with an enormous locomotive by the door, sights of which rival the thematic restaurants of Palermo. The meals now, are like no other I have ever seen before, not in a different "parrilla" nor in any other restaurant worldwide I've been. They simply are something else for you can not only taste the high quality on every cut they serve, but the expertise of their cuisine. I believe this restaurant embodies the concept of what a foreigner should think is a true Argentinian "parrilla": enormous serving that not only are perfect for sharing, but moreover tower over the waiters heads as they are brought to each customer's table; cooked on point; easily sliced by a spoon with little to no effort; adorned with their own special recipe toppings, whose taste is not comparable to the vulgarity of the commercially available and the industrially made. As for the service, I can say it is one of the most remarkable. Every waiter greets all customers with a smile, and can be seen bringing the immense meals with the outmost energic pace and a smile on their faces. I was given the genuine impression that this was more than a simple job for these people, like they were all prideful about the place they help to run. And for that I commend them, organisers, waiters, chefs and cooks, for they all are the authors of the most unique Argentinian experience one can have the pleasure to be the witness of: the pride (contested second or first alongside football) of a Nation, the true craft that is the Argentinian parrilla.

Where to begin! First, I have to highlight the excellent service from our waitress Nicole, who was incredibly kind, attentive, and helpful. The portions are absolutely massive, something to keep in mind when reading the menu and looking at the prices. Most dishes easily serve three to four people, depending on what you order. The milanesas were incredible, and so was the carne. For dessert, we had flan, volcán de chocolate, and panqueques; all rich, indulgent, and delicious. They’re definitely generous with portions and flavours; nothing feels skimpy. We went to celebrate my partner’s birthday, and they brought us a slice of cake with candles, and the entire restaurant joined in singing happy birthday. It was such a lovely moment. Truly, a beautiful experience that captures the very best of Argentina in one place.

The biggest and flavorful steak in all Buenos Aires. During my ten-day visit in the city, I came two times to “El Ferroviario”. Although it is a bit far from “El Centro” I would come every possible time. Every server makes you feel at home, thus, creating an irreplaceable ambiance. We shared a whole portion of “Bife de Chorizo” plus fries and a mixed salad between 4. Trust me when I say it was more than enough. The portions here are HUUUUGE. You may be expecting from the description of the restaurant for the prices to be high, wrong. I may say that “El Ferroviario” is one of the cheapest restaurants I visited but still the best one ever. I am anxiously waiting for my next trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina, to come back and visit this great place. Thank you for having us!

El Ferroviario (2006) Reservistas Argentinos 219. Ubicado en el barrio de Liniers, ofrece una amplia variedad de platos, especialmente carnes a la parrilla. Está ubicado casi debajo de la Au. Perito Moreno donde estaban los talleres ferroviarios de Liniers y tiene una capacidad de 500 comensales simultáneos. Un lugar que jamás defrauda y donde siempre hay gente esperando para ingresar. Les recomiendo reservar con 3 o más semanas de anticipación para viernes, sábados o domingos o bien llegar algunos minutos antes del horario de apertura (12hs y 20hs). Sus platos se destacan por la calidad, el sabor de las carnes y sus porciones pantagruélicas. Además ofrecen opciones vegetarianas y sin gluten. La especialidad de la casa el asado ancho Un lugar inigualable por la atención amable y eficiente y el ambiente cálido y acogedor En resumen, si buscan una auténtica experiencia de parrilla es una excelente opción. Llegamos temprano, sin reserva y el lugar lentamente comenzó a ocuparse. Nos encontramos con un lugar muy bien ambientado, relajado, tranquilo y cálido. Nos recibieron de maravillas, inmediatamente nos acercaron a la mesa, inmediatamente nos ofrecieron la carta y comentaron el menú, encontramos un menú con una muy buena variedad de platos acompañados por ensaladas o guarniciones. Nuestra camarera obró de forma muy diligente y esmerada, aportó un muy buen asesoramiento y sugerencias, además estuvo siempre atenta a las necesidades de los comensales. Mientras esperamos nos trajeron panes y una serie de pastas para untar excelentes. Si bien los platos se hicieron esperar, la espera fue razonable y resultaron de excelente presentación y sabor. Todo llego a la mesa en un orden adecuado, el emplazado y la presentación de los platos fue impecable, todo a punto, tierno, con excelentes aromas y realizados con productos frescos y sabrosos. La excelente atención y comida fueron de la mano, los platos y las porciones combinaron en un lugar perfecto para degustar las carnes argentinas, realmente fue una experiencia impecable. Hay que visitarlos si o si.

Excelente lugar si quieres probar una gran variedad de opciones típicas de Argentina. Elegimos la parrilla libre y pagamos un solo monto, se puede probar lo que gustes de la carta. Empiezan trayendo fiambres y quesos, ensalada al gusto (rugula, tomates cherry y parmesano increíble) luego una parrilla de anchuras, otra parrilla de cortes de carne y puedes pedir lo que gustes de la carta, tanto en cortes, postres, o cualquiera de las cosas que ya probaste. Te dan un refresco grande a elegir por pareja. Tienen la mesa con bollería lista. El lugar estaba bastante lleno, y sabíamos que sería así por los reviews, aún así no realizamos reserva ya que no había campo para el día que ocupabamos ir, y la espera no fue tan larga como creímos, 40 min máximo y eso que había bastante gente esperando previo. También hay un toldo para adquirir bebidas fuera mientras se espera y lugares donde sentarse. El trato de los meseros y personal en general fue muy amable, nuestra mesera siempre estuvo atenta a lo que pedíamos y lo traía con prontitud. Único detalle que tal vez para algunos sea algo bueno más bien, es que pedimos que nos trajeran poquito de todo por que queríamos probar y no sabíamos si nos iba a gustar y fue imposible que en cocina nos sirvieran poco, todas las porciones eran enormes (entonces para mi gusto fue sentir que despediciaba, por qué efectivamente hubieron cosas muy particulares que no son de mi diario comer que solo probé y listo) los cortes si bien son de gran tamaño también son bastante grasosos, por ahí la carne no venía al término que la pedimos pero tampoco estaba súper pasada, solo no al punto. La entraña, el chorizo, el queso provoleta, el bife de chorizo, el cordero, el lechón, el flan casero y los higos al almibar fueron mis favoritos. Pagas poco para la cantidad de cosas que pruebas y comes. Ahora bien, recomendado para probar diferentes cosas, pero si buscas un corte de carne más magro, tal vez la opción de parrilla libre no sea la mejor, en ese caso mejor pedir el platillo como tal o buscar otro restaurante.
