We came on a recommendation from the local wine shop in el calafate with whom we had a really nice chat and told him about our amazing experience in Kalma in Ushuaia.
Unfortunately, the evening was a disappointment. It was not possible to get a wine recommendation on white wines. In the menu it was not clear that there would be no sides served with e.g. the rarity Patagonian toothfish nor the guanaco burger. After we asked we ordered additional roasted vegetables and a salad.
The fish was okay, the burger was dry and without any sauce. The vegetables were okay although I find a chunk of pumpkin, zucchini, a carrot and two half onions a weird demonstration of finer dining. In general it would be nice to get the hot food served on hot plates. The salad was first forgotten and afterwards served without a dressing. The salad itself did not make a fresh impression and had big chunks of the bitter middle of the salad in it.

Read moreThis restaurant is one of the best things we experienced in El Calafate. It is located inside of Kau Yatun hotel. We ate here twice : once for dinner and second time for lunch. Chef is awesome as the food is amazing - empanadas, Milanese, ravioli fried with lamb , cocktails were amazing. David was excellent, he helped us with choice of food and also with choice of wine. Second time we got a bottle of Patagonia Malbec and it was amazing. Not only quality of food and drinks (cocktails and wine) were much better than in any other place on the central street (Avenue de Liberdade) that we have’s it was also cheaper and with much pleasant atmosphere than in any...
Read moreWe found this hidden gem by accident as our hotel was right around the corner outside the villages center. It had a country club / chalet atmosphere. The staff was super friendly and we had the feeling they offered some extra services for us. We felt very welcomed even with our broken Spanish and as non-hotel guests (restaurant is located in a hotel).
The food was absolutely amazing with a focus on local specialities like guanaco or el calafate berries. Wine selection as well!
All in all one of the best food and service we had during our one month travel through Argentina and Chile. We can highly recommend to visit this place!...
