We only spent three nights at the hotel. Overall the amenities of the hotel were good, the staff were extremely polite and helpful and it was only a 15 min walk into the centre of town.||||We only had two issues. Firstly the room was extremely hot and heating cannot be controlled from within the room. Even at the end of March with windows open we found it to hot to sleep. Second, about 30 metres from our window was a house which owned a number of roosters. This meant that each morning at 4am we were awoken by the cacophany of roosters out doing wach other which continued for at least an hour.||||The absolute highlight was a member of staff who did us a massive favour. After returning from a day trip late one day we found the local laundry closed and unable to collect our washing. Due to itineraries there was no time we had to collect it however upon explaining the situation to one of the staff (as they were heading home for the night), they offered to collect it the next day and drop it back to the hotel. This was despite the fact that it was their last day there and they were also leaving for Buenos Aires the next day. Maybe more of an indication of the person but this act of generosity eclipsed the minor issues we experienced. ||||Its a great place - just ask for a room away from...
Read moreStaff are very nice. Rooms are sort of small. Our bed took up most of our room. Also you can’t control the temperature in your room. We stayed in early November and our room was so hot that I just laid on top of the blankets. The radiant floor heating is great after a long day on the glacier or in cold, wet weather. I must say that we were given a glass with a major crack. I threw it away and they didn’t give us a new glass when they cleaned. I had to call the front desk and explain and request one. Also they perfectly folded the pajamas that I tossed on the bed. They didn’t have to do that and no one has ever folded my pjs in any hotel.
On tripadvisor, people complain that it’s far to town. Not true! It is a five minute walk to a pastry shop where you can buy sandwiches for your excursions. Across the street from the patisserie is a small grocery where you can buy fruit or cookies for your lunch. It’s about 15 minutes to town with shops and restaurants. It’s a flat, easy walk.
Guests often smoke right outside the main door and leave it open. The smoke blows into the lobby, where we sat because there was no room to sit...
Read moreThis hotel was chosen for me by Exoticca. It is of a Lodge style, and it’s rustic interior is in perfect harmony with a rugged Patagonian nature around it. The room was clean and had everything you need while exploring the outdoors. The staff is absolutely wonderful, whether at the restaurant, reception or a cleaning team. Very warm and helpful.|The restaurant only serves breakfast and sandwiches later in the day.|The hotel is on the outskirts of El Calafate, about 20-30 minutes away. Charming little town with lots of lovey restaurants and shops. A nice pastry shop-cafe is 5 minutes away from the hotel, on the corner, just as you turn left towards the town and a mini supermarket opposite the cafe. |I travelled solo and stayed three nights at the hotel. People in El Calafate are very friendly and I felt totally safe to explore the town and coming to the hotel late- ish in the evenings. |Dogs are part of the town and I found it delightful. If you allow, they will accompany you around. Very...
