Rude and unfriendly staff at the counter. The place was empty when I walked, they were not busy at all, I had to wait a minute until a young girl came out and took my order in a bored manner. I could see through the window that I have interrupted a conversion of her with the bloke who I guess was in charge to cook the meal. Anyway she took my order and I went outside to wait beacause the AC in the shop was blowing ice cold air. I went back in 5 minutes time to see that I can pick up my order. No one came out to see who entered the shop. Or, they saw me and did not bother. I could have order something else or just have a chat until they are ready with the meal. Waited a little bit and went out. I returned again in 3 minutes. Same no show at the counter. Went out again. Then another customer went in so I did I. She was already served order taken and I waited again. Then the female worker came out and announced that my order was ready. I took the bag and gave her a question, "Did this really took 10 minutes to be ready?" She replied instantly that it was not 10 minutes. I got my receipt and the order and show her that my order happened 10 minutes earlier. I told her " it was 10 minutes ago was not it?" She just went back behind the glass window without any comment or explanation. I understand the time flies when you have an interesting conversation with someone, however if you want to make a living from customers then you should treat them with respect. When I left I could see from the outside that the customer was having a chat with that worker who was looking for me with her eyes and head. So, I returned to ask for the manager who was not present I was told and ask her name and she answered. So, Leticia I just want to say that your conduct was unprofessinal, you need to improve you custumer skill and also want to let the chef know that the food I took away was overcooked. Today 06/09/2023 and 25/08/2023 my friend and I had lunch at Barnacle Bills and when entering and leaving the floors were greasy and very slippery. I’m 55 yrs old and I have mobility issues and have to use a walking stick and my walking stick was slipping on the floor as well as mine and my friends shoes, my friend had to hold my arm and assist me walking out because my walking stick was slipping on the floor and I felt extremely unsafe. We come here at least once a fortnight (most often weekly) and have NEVER had this problem before. I spoke to the manager Raj who advised that the floors are cleaned daily. I asked if management had changed the products they previously used. He advised that the Holden Hill store had recently changed hands and that the cleaning products they use had also changed (IMO more likely going for a cheaper floor cleaning product, which is way less effective at removing greasy residue). I told Raj just how dangerous the floor is but he seemed quite nonchalant about what I was saying and simply made excuses. I have emailed Barnacle Bills Head Office today to advise them of this extremely dangerous issue. So if anyone who reads this has fallen because the floors were greasy and slippery and you have injured yourself then you will know that today Wednesday September 6th 2023 that the Barnacle Bills Holden Hill Branch AND the Barnacle Bills Head Office have BOTH been advised by me about the potential safety issue with the greasy floors. After 51 years on this Earth, safe to say that the service and food at Barnacle Bills is something of a Michelin star restaurant. The cook, whom I believe to be named Ben. He greeted us within seconds of entering the restaurant and I had not felt more comfortable and in years. Sat us at our table and made us feel like we were travelling in first class. Absolutely astonishing. Ordered a serve of the Butterfish and a serve of the LemonPepper Calamari. Ben cooked our meals AND brought them out, if that isn’t service I don’t know what is. The Butterfish was crispy, juicy and crunchy, something that you don’t find just anywhere. The chips were cooked to a platinum standard where they were both fluffy and crunchy.
