Farmhouse Bakery
Pulled Pork Pie $5.50
Went down to the Farmhouse Bakery to try one of their pies. Met Paul the owner/baker I was pretty chuffed to hear a couple of people from the group have been down here !
The presentation looked really good, from the looks a little smaller circular pie. Had a nice golden brown look to the lid. Now these guys have nailed the pastry, the lid wasn't too flakey, had a nice crispness to it cooked perfectly, the base and the sides perfect. Couldn't fault it at all !
Biting into the pie I was pretty surprised with the taste, had a casserole type of taste, could taste tomato, perhaps also paprika, and a bit of pepper in the gravy. The pork was absolutely tender. It was hearty, flavoursome and wasn't too rich. The pork is locally sourced and slow cooked. The flavours worked really well together and I reckon they've nailed it. The serving temp was spot on and the pie held up together, passed the one hand pub test.
The bakery is pretty small, no dining area. Plenty of delicious pies to choose from and the donuts and pastries looked really nice. Thanks for having me in Paul 👍 Definitely be back to try their cheeseburger pie !
