We recently visited Orientai to celebrate a birthday with another family, and unfortunately, the experience was far from satisfactory. Our evening began on a promising note, with us ordering a lighter entrée to save room for the heavier main course. We requested four servings of Tom Yum Soup to be split into five portions. Initially, the attendant agreed and took the rest of our order, which included Fresh Lime Soda (sweet and salt), Chicken Satay Skewers, Garlic Prawns, Chilli Barramundi, Fried Rice, and Pad Thai Noodles.
However, things started to go downhill quickly. The attendant returned after some time to inform us that they couldn't split the soup into five portions without providing a clear reason. Instead, she offered to serve the entire order in a large bowl placed in the center of the table. We reluctantly agreed.
The first major disappointment arrived with the Fresh Lime Soda. Instead of the sweet and salt concoction we expected, we were presented with a plain soda bottle and a glass with ice and a slice of lemon. This was not what we ordered or anticipated.
Next, the Tom Yum Soup was served in a large bowl placed in the center of the table. We waited for the attendant to bring us five bowls and spoons to serve the soup individually. After waiting for a considerable time, we had to request the bowls ourselves. The attendant's reaction was as if we were asking for something unreasonable. How else were we supposed to have the soup - all 5 of us dipping our spoons in one bowl ? She eventually brought the bowls, but her attitude was far from professional.
This entire experience left the host embarrassed and our dining experience soured. The rest of the food was passable and average, with nothing exceptional to note. I personally enjoyed the Garlic Prawns and Chicken Fried Rice, but the substandard service overshadowed any enjoyment of the meal.
Overall, the service at Orientai was disappointing and significantly marred our celebration. We will not be returning to this restaurant, and I would caution others to consider the service quality before...

Read moreCame here to celebrate a joint milestone birthday. We have been regular customers for over 10 years now, and with this in mind were disappointed by the service we recently received. The waiter actively avoided us, particularly when we had an issue with one of the meals. It was very difficult to get the attention of wait staff, which meant our we were busy trying to waive someone down rather than enjoy our dining experience. The salt and pepper tofu had an odd aftertaste, almost as though the tofu or the oil it was cooked in had gone rancid. Although the tofu was refunded, the staff were unapologetic and because it took us so long to call someone over, we had finished the rest of the food and it was too late to replace the meal. The whole experience left a sour taste in our mouth and it was not how we expected to share such an...
