CHICKEN CAVE — Restaurant in Adelaide

This chicken and chip shop used to be really good. And a few months ago I would have given it a 4 or 5 star rating. Unfortunately over the last few months this place has gone downhill quite a bit. The chips aren't as good as they used to be. I'm not sure if they're using different oil or not? The chips we had from there today tasted like they had been reheated. They were soft (not crispy) on the outside and grainy and hard on the inside. And also very very yellow in colour. Not very nice at all. We have since tried a couple of other fish and chip shops in the area and even though they are further away from our home, we will likely travel to those instead to get a better food experience. Staff are also a little standoffish and forget to smile... also very overpriced. $7 for chips and gravy and only one size to...

No, unfortunately not, I don't have the wrong shop. I did go into YOUR shop. I have never posted a bad experience publicy, but kept it to myself, but as I couldn't believe how I was treated I felt the need to do this. I went into your shop on the 4/4/24 before 12:30pm as I went into a store at the complex after and told my partner about the experience I had as I was upset. It's not about the chicken price, it's about the service I endeavoured and the attitude. I was served by the dark haired woman who was polite at first and the dark haired 'boss' cooking the counter. Experiences like this I would expect from children in a school yard.

Please don't call me a liar, just own up to your mistakesand learn from them.

I have only visited once and would guess the rating would expand to five stars if I visited regularly. It was very busy on a Friday lunchtime and they handled the volume of customers well for the size of the shop. Highlights were the extremely tasty chicken and healthy offerings of fresh salads. The chips were hyped up, by a regular customer as 'the best in Adelaide'. This wasn't my experience, but I had no complaints, as they were well cooked and seasoned.
