I have been to Fuego's 3 times now. Each time I have booked a table and walked in and done as the sign asks 'wait here to be seated'. Each time, I have felt incredibly unwelcome.

This time, my husband had put a note about it being our wedding anniversary on the booking. When we eventually got someone's attention, the response was once again cold and there was no mention of the fact it was a special occasion.

We got the table on the balcony we booked and ordered straight away. We specifically asked for the mussels to be served as a starter for us to share and both ordered a steak, asking for them rare and medium rare.

We then waited around an hour for food. In the meantime, we ordered a glass of white wine and a rose and these were delivered warm. When we bought this up, there was a shrug and we were asked if we would like some ice as the fridge was broken.

After the hour, I asked when our starter might arrive. Very quickly, the starter and both our steaks were delivered. There followed a rather comical stand off where we explained we couldn't eat the starter and main at the same time. There were a good few minutes whilst 2 waiters just stared at me. Eventually, they suggested they would take the starter away and not charge us for it. It might have been an idea to leave it and not charge for it, particularly because once we started on our steaks, it was clear they had been sat around for some time, and my steak was also very well done. We sent mine back so my husband had to eat his alone and luke warm. Once mine arrived, it was good as usual and highlighted how cold my husband's had been. The steak here is excellent at least but overall, after three visits, I think that will have been our last. There was no real apology and they didn't say goodbye as we left. Not a cheap...

I had Surf n Turf. I requested steak medium rare.It came as requested. But not much surface browning or caramelisation on the steak. So that particular part of the flavour was amiss. ! The griddle iron and or the flame not enough heat ! I wld have preferred the seafood sauce have white wine based. However it was explained due to Halal they cant add wine. I thought Alcohol was "cooked out" ??.this dish does say comes with diced potatoes. Which added nothing to the dish. few sliced sweet carrot rings and just few beans.or asparagus shavings or 1 brocoli stem.White n Sweet potato mash ? Completes it as main meal.Than a restricted or part meal As it was nearer $60. Served on a slim small plate. It is awkward dining. May be a way to avoid some extra interesting veg.food volumeTo complete as full main meal ??Needs to be served on a normal round main sized plate. For diners to manage comfortably ! No Aust Seniors lunch discount either. This custom is Alien. Not sure if this out of touch is ideal. We have seniors cards.Whereby a little discount on certain days or lunch times.Surely cld be ? (ALL AUST SENIORS WITH THEIR CARDS.I URGE YOU TO DISPLAY IT.EDUCATE AND REQUEST DISCOUNTS.TO ENSURE THIS CULTURAL STANDARD ISNT LOST OR UNKNOWN ) There were enough waitressing staff. But not on the ball for customers needing assistance.Another drink etc.of their tables ?Then it sitting on the bar another full 5 mins b4 i got a staff attention. Its a bit pricey place. This small meal improvement wld justify...

Arrived to a 1/3 full dining room, no reservation. The woman at the front desk said all the tables on the balcony were booked. There were 7 open tables on the balcony, 6 of those were set, ready to be seated. None had reserved signs. I asked again to be sure. We would really like to enjoy the view. No way. Blank stare back at me. No. Since we were tired and hungry, I decided to take the only offered table which was inside. She took us to our table and literally dropped the menus on the table and walked away. Eventually, I ordered salt and pepper squid, which was barely fried. It was lukewarm, oily with limp and mushy batter. The “salad” that it came with was a small bunch of plain mixed greens, no dressing, no tomatoes or other salad vegetables. The chips were ok. My husband had fish and chips, the fish was not remotely fresh. But it was at least cooked enough. While we sat at our table, three other parties arrived. Two were seated inside, one outside. The other “reserved” tables all sat empty in the 70 minutes we were there. So she was lying. On top of these disappointments, our bill was over $80. The 2 meals were ALL WE HAD. No drinks, nothing else. Outrageous. I won’t ever be coming back here, as I’m sure this will be our only trip to Adelaide. So I do hope other readers will read this review and heed my warning....

Note: the reviews below were when the restaurant was Oceanique. We have not had a chance to visit the restaurant since the business was sold and renamed in September 2023. Oceanique was our favourite restaurant of all time. Fantastic food. Substantial meal sizes. Excellent service from knowledgeable and friendly staff. Extensive wine list. Gorgeous setting. The staff go above and beyond expectations to cater for gluten free and dairy free dietary requirements. October 2022: This remains our favourite restaurant. We dined here yesterday for lunch. Once again an enjoyable experience. Since my initial review, friends, family and us have dined here several times. Each time the experience was very pleasant. January 2023 We dined at this restaurant yesterday for lunch; a party of eight. Since we last dined at this establishment a new chef has been employed and hence a new menu. I am pleased to report the meals have remained at an extremely high standard; all guests at our table spoke highly of their meals. The attention to dietary requirements by staff was once again excellent. The table service was very good too. My partner was even given a lit candle on her dessert in recognition of her birthday. We look forward to our next dining experience.

Peaceful View : Fuego By The Sea restaurant is a separate section of Adelaide Sailing Club. Indoors was al-acarte white tablecloth service in the main dining area, which I did not have a good look at closely so can’t make comment. I preferred lunch on the undercover balcony due to the noisy inside dining crowd and the staff were accommodating. The seating and tables provided undercover are all weather for outside use, decor is basic. Staff were confident in their job and efficient although follow up drinks and table water could be quicker. Absolutely No complaints about the food ordered of Seafood Linguine and Calamari. The prices were on the higher side but to be expected with the table service as it’s not a pub. The cocktails were very flavorsome and better made than some good bars. A kids menu is on offer as well. Feurgo would easily suit elderly or disabled diners with walking aids and or wheelchairs. The view is a small west beach boat ramp and open bay views with people walking dogs and some temporary sand trucks at the distance. It was a peaceful view no traffic or hustle-bustle. Ample off street lined parking away from main roads. Would enjoy to dine here again to try another choice on the select menu. Balcony corner view in picture

Beautiful view (obviously) but the place has also had a nice decor update. We also really appreciated the artwork around the restaurant by local artists. We really enjoyed the barramundi and the beef fillet was cooked to absolutely perfection. One guest said the risotto was average. The menu had a really nice range and lots of options for different dietary requirements (gluten free for us). But I would say the prices are quite high, barramundi was $38. And the kids meals were small but pricey too. However, we did appreciate that the popcorn chicken was real chicken, not processed. There were also several gluten feee desserts, again pricey but we loved the coconut panacotta as a light summer dessert. Would still recommend a visit here but don’t expect a cheap experience.
