Had lunch here on a Tuesday at 11:30 AM just as the lunch crowd was queing up. I ordered the fish and chips that comes with a salad and my wife had charred grilled lamb rump. My fish was two pieces of crumbed fish that was good and a smallish portion of fries. My wife's lamb came out in four slices medium rare with mashed potatoes. No complaints. The meals came out within 20 minutes. The bill was $43 there was a special buy one lunch get one lunch for free with a beer and lemon lime and bitters. I would definitely come back again.

Wow, who would have thought that in this pub I was going to get a fantastic tasty lunch., and the size of it was way more than many other pubs. The fish and chips was hot crunchy chips and 2 great pieces of fish. I needed a foggy bag to take home. The apple pie was so delicious, full of apples, though I could have had more ice-cream on the side than was given. Overall it was really great. Will come again. Salt and pepper squid looked good too as the chicken snitty did as well.

Had lunch at the Halfway Hotel today and was disgusted at what the chef served up as Roast Lamb. The pieces of "meat" looked like they were the fatty pieces people had left on their plates because they could not eat them. How a chef could allow a meal like that leave the kitchen is beyond belief. The vegetables were okay, but that's where it ended. The waitress offered dessert, but I was so angry I couldn't get out of the place quick enough.

Our first and last experience at the Halfway Hotel. Seafood trio ordered. When it arrived, the waitress stammered..." um seafood. Duo?'. No such thing on the menu so we asked about the missing prawns. The owner came and stood over our table knawing loudly and visibly on some food- I mean we all saw what was in her mouth. I questioned her about the chomping as I was genuinely concerned something would fly from her mouth onto my steak as she chewed and confusingly talked explaining that she would rectify the omitted order. She just said yes she had a mouthful of food and kept chewing and talking. More pre battered frozen deep fried seafood was delivered. Scotch fillet requested with red wine jus and additional prawns ie surf and turf, cooked bleu. This arrived without jus and a pot of thin tepid cream with what appeared to be tiny frozen prawns sunken at the bottom. I don't mind ordering the top of the menu if it's good but this was an unfortunate fail. Full rack of pork ribs was obviously bought in vacuum sealed and reheated in the microwave. We ate the food as our policy is to not waste food. I felt a bit like Joey Chestnut finishing a lot of the family's rejected oddities. Overall not the steakhouse fare that it claims to deliver. The staff didn't appear to have designated duties and poor communication so it was overall clumsy and uncomfortable. This was one of the worst and strange dining experiences we have come across. Couldn't get out quick enough and wouldn't come back again. This is a genuine and accurate account of our dining experience at the Halfway Hotel. In the current format, staff, food and atmosphere, it definitely was not and never will be even close to...

Best restaurant meal I've had in a very long time. We came here for lunch today for a pre-birthday celebration for me with my relatives. The chargrilled porterhouse steak was absolutely delicious, and exactly cooked how we ordered it. Everyone at our table loved the caesar salad. The sticky date pudding was not only delicious, but surprisingly light & fluffy. It was a beautiful meal in every way! The music wasn't annoying as in other pub bistros or restaurants, nor were we ushered out for afternoon clean-up. With supportive bench seating, we were able to stay for 3hrs - something I personally haven't been able to do in many years. The disability toilet was very spacious. The only let down was only one official disability park (that was already taken) - I'd not thought to think of the "VIP Park" as a courtesy park equivalent to pram parks at shopping malls, thus I/we had to walk unnecessarily further, but I was assured they'd be adding more disability parking soon. (And may I add the staff were extremely approachable and courteous at every point. Oh, and unlike a restaurant we went for Mother's Day last weekend, we weren't made to feel a nuisance at all for having walkers with us.) Except for the parking, I was very impressed with this restaurant - food, staff, atmosphere, etc. Thank you for a lovely (pre)birthday celebration for me this year. I don't get out much, and you've made it a happy birthday to remember. All being well, I hope to bring my father here next month for his 80th birthday. Thanks again. You've made my birthday celebrations a good memory this year. I can't thank you...

I’m thrilled to write a five-star review for the pub that went above and beyond to accommodate our group from work on a late night. Despite the hour being well past 10pm, the pub staff remained welcoming and attentive, ensuring we felt valued and cared for.

Highlights:

Warm atmosphere: The pub’s cozy ambiance and dim lighting created a perfect setting for a relaxed gathering with colleagues. Attentive service: The staff were friendly, efficient, and attentive, despite the late hour. They ensured our drinks and snacks were always replenished and made sure we had everything we needed. PS. Cheryl, you're the best! Flexibility: The pub was accommodating when we asked for a few extra minutes to settle our bill, showing a willingness to work with us despite the late hour. Quality drinks and food: The pub’s selection of drinks and snacks was excellent, with something to suit everyone’s taste. Recommendation:

If you’re looking for a pub that can handle a late-night gathering with friends or colleagues, look no further. This pub’s exceptional service, warm atmosphere, and quality offerings make it an excellent choice. Don’t hesitate to visit, even on a late night – you won’t be...
