Homestead Cafe Bakery — Restaurant in Adelaide

The aromas that waft from this bakery makes you wish lunchtime was all day! I love chunky pies and meat pasties and both Homestead's pies and pasties are really lovely, no doubt! The staff are lovely, polite and homely too. Their drinks fridges are fully stocked with the full gamut of different types of drinks, fruit juices, different waters, health, carbonated and still plus the milk coffees etc. and the whole soft drink range. They make fresh rolls and sandwiches and even proper espresso coffee to have with all of the sweet buns and other sweet delicacies. Yum! A big bonus is, if you like tomato sauce is they "squeeze" the sauce in rather than offer those individual measures you have to squeeze over your pie or pastie. I would've happily given a five star review except for when they squeeze the sauce in, the squeezy bottle is removed too quickly thereby not enough sauce enters your pie or pastie. It's pretty annoying paying for sauce but not getting any. Please note though, regardless of that small sauce issue, there is nothing wrong with the premises, the staff and the products. My hubby and I recently visited this awesome bakery and decided to try their chicken and mushroom pie. Can I just say it was amazing! The crust was perfectly flaky, while the filling was rich and creamy, packed with tender chicken and mushrooms. The flavours were perfectly balanced, making each bite a delight. Just returned to SA after nearly a year of being overseas. Visited the local bakery, bought a Cornish pasty. My gosh it’s the most delectable thing I’ve ever tasted and they’re so big, I can’t possibly eat it all. The flavour is melt in your mouth delicious.
