We thought that we would give this cafe another go after being disappointed the previous few times as we walk our dog past regularly. Upon arriving we noticed that the outdoor tables were quite dirty but had no choice to sit there as we had our dog with us.
We waited outside for the dirty table to be cleared which didn’t happen. We cleaned it ourselves with the menus to flick away crumbs etc.
The lack of staff care factor was present when I went inside to order food and drinks. It was Monday lunchtime around 1pm we ordered the fiery beef burger to share, 1 long black and 1 dirty chai. We were one of only 3 customers there at the time.
I had to go inside to get the dog bowl and water for our dog. Then I had to go inside again to get some pepper and salt for our table. Clearly we were going to share the 1 huge burger which arrived with 1 knife and fork and 1 small serviette and was almost thrown down in front of us.
Totally disappointed that the ‘fiery burger’ was super bland without a hint of chilli or jalapeños as it was described on the menu.
Very happy that we didn’t order a burger each and only paid for 1 average meal.
After not being acknowledged once for even being there, we left. Not before piling up our own plates and gathering our cups to make the staff’s job a bit easier. As we walked past the door we noticed the waitress sitting on the serving counter with her head down looking at her mobile phone. The chef was leaning on the prep bench looking through her phone. Both were completely unaware that we were leaving.
I wonder if our plates are still outside? 😕
Lack of staff training, zero customer service or interest was evident. We try to support local businesses but poor customer service and cleanliness make it difficult to do so.
What a shame you seem to have lost your passion and drive.
Unfortunately, we won’t ever recommend this place to anyone again. If this is how the management/owners wish to have their business represented - I’m surprised that the doors are still open. Another disappointing visit to...
Read moreMan this place is nice! It was a busy day so a very young man was at the till. He greeted everyone with a: "hello how are you" and "what can we help you with today". Half of Australia's hospitality can take a lesson from this young man! He even looked us square in the eye and smiled while taking our order! So awesome. The coffee was fantastic, Crema perfect and the temperature left the milk sweet. The banabread with butter on the side was neither dry nor wet but moist enough to leave a bit of a crunch when served toastie warm. The gluten free pistachio and coconut slice was just sweet enough to please the naughty angel but full of goodness and again the texture was firm but not chewy. The cafe is clean but not bland so the atmosphere is great and with the interior design akin to a eastern seaboard surf cafe the echoe noise is kept to minimum so conversation is pleasant. We have been back for more since then and sevice and food is...
Read moreWe went to Ink Espresso for first time lunch. We saw it advertised in the Entertainment Book. It was a 30min drive for us 'southerners' and worth the trip! Great atmosphere, customer service and most importantly, food quality! I ordered the Eggs Florentine with haloumi and chorizo. My wife had the haloumi and chicken salad, whilst our son thoroughly enjoyed the bacon with scrambled eggs. The coffee was smooth and flavoursome (not burnt). Our shared treat of a vanilla slice was indeed a treat. The pastry was flaky and the cream very creamy - it was indeed freshly prepared - yummy! The atmosphere was 'homey', light and bright with good use of art work to lift the atmosphere. A functional space for children was an added benefit. We strongly recommend the Ink Espresso to everyone. A gem in the heart of the Lefevbre Peninsula here in the Western Suburbs...
