This hotel is one of the saddest premises I've had to stay in. The outside of the building was suffering from sheer neglect. Planking falling off, a dirty building and the access road? at the rear was full of potholes. When you entered the room there was a very distinctive smell was was (initially) hard to identify...until you looked closer. The place was riddled with salt damp. Indeed, the upper walls in the bathroom had pealing paint. Bathroom accessories had fallen off the wall and they hadn't bothered to put them back on...instead they screwed them onto the back of the door. The small shelf above the bathroom basin was tilted forward and anything you placed on it wanted to slide off. The building and the room were so old that they still had the old bedside built-in shelves that used to hold the old telephone on the top and the telephone books just underneath. I can just remember old motels that had that sort of furniture -- but barely. You are unable to read in bed because there are no bedside lights. The actual light fittings are there but no globes. Therefore, you have to get out of bed and walk to the nearest wall switch to switch off the overhead light. Be careful when you sit on the bed (or lie on it). It's a frightening experience! You'll swear you are about to hit the floor. Bedside power points are located (almost hidden) under the old telephone shelves...you have to really look for them. Initially, I couldn't locate them, and had to walk to the receptionist to ask where they were...the lady didn't know so she supplied me with a long extension cord. Tea and coffee etc were supplied in those little packets along with paddle pop sticks to stir your beverage. No spoons. You are still expected to pay over $100 for this extravagance. The real price should be around $50! You are issued with a voucher upon booking in which enables you to two free drinks however, it's a bit of a con, because you can only choose from the beers on tap and the house wines (red and white). I choose the red house wine with my meal and got served with two fingers of red in a tall glass. This disclosure is not the place to go into detail of the under cooked Roast of the Day" or the attempt at a desert of "Eton Mess" (many of which I had experienced at boarding school)...it was nothing like an Eton Mess. Suffice to say, the small two fingers of red house wine had to fill me up. I gave this dismal place a rating of 2 stars but that is only because they supplied sheets and pillows. I suggest you stay somewhere else and don't bother with the dining...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy daughter asked to come here for the indoor playground, we accidentally drove to the Seaton instead and my GOD do I wish we had just stayed there for dinner..
5:30 and we are 1 of 2 tables there, we order and within less then 5 minutes the two kids meals come out, we were already a bit concerned how they cooked hot food that quickly but figured canāt mess up chicken nuggets (I was wrong) - the kids meals are just slapped onto cardboard trays with a few extras,
A few minutes later mine & my husbands meals come out - for reference I had karaage chicken and he had a beef burger.
I get 5-6 pieces of my chicken in before I notice it was COMPLETELY pink inside, my husband then nudges me to show his burger was RAW.
He takes our daughter & I flag down the young guy who seemed to be the only server, from the get go no smile & 0 interest, however he comes over and I tell him my chicken is pink & the burger is raw, he takes my food only into the kitchen and comes out 2 minutes later and just goes āyeah itās undercookedā - no sorry and literally 0 care in his voice, I proceeded to tell him how sick I could get from that to which he replies āso do you want something else?ā⦠after receiving 2 raw meals and no apology why would I want something else? No offer to get a manager, absolutely not apologetic and literally the worst service. I immediately got up, grabbed my husband and we left. I stopped the girl at reception & told her, she was about the only decent person employed there & refunded us as well as took my number down and apologised, however unfortunately refunded meals does not make up for this.
My eldest daughter spent the night throwing up chicken nuggets which clearly were also not cooked properly or cooked in an unclean environment - how does one mess up frozen nuggets? My husband has spent the day bed ridden and myself 2 days bed ridden.
2 tables was all there was & you still could not cook the food properly, even if you were flat out busy there is absolutely NO excuse to serve raw meat & chicken and make a household full of people sick including children & risk their health this way!
The fact your wait staff seem to be a constant topic of complaint and clearly nothing is getting done, as someone who has worked in hospitality as well as managed it the absolute disgusting service was just a cherry on top to not even apologise or care when a customer is now at risk of salmonella.
Shame on you all, I will absolutely never step foot near this...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePositives: The check-in staff member Rhys (?) was informative and friendly. Upon checking in I was offered a breakfast pack which was appreciated. The large grass yard the room window faces onto is a nice look-out for a budget suburban room.
Negatives: The room I stayed in stunk like vomit. I thought it was just a bad smell when I came first came into the room and hoped that it would go away if I left the door facing the courtyard open for a while. Upon going to bed I closed the door and without any fresh air coming into the room I finally recognised the smell as vomit. Had it been earlier I would have notified staff however it was late by that time and I was exhausted. I notified the staff member of the smell in the room upon checking out and she didn't apologise but told me that I should have mentioned it earlier. I told her the room should be not used to house guests in the first place and she then made a comment about having to have a word with the new housekeeping staff. Care factor appeared low.
The entrance to the room via the shared walkway was littered with debris including Subway rubbish.
I returned to my car in the morning to find the front section had been completely rifled through overnight and an expensive item had been stolen. This was despite parking where I was instructed to at the rear of the building in what initially appeared to be a quiet and secure area within the grounds of the hotel. There did not seem to be cameras on this side of the building so guests may want to be cautious before parking in that area of the hotel. I'm aware the theft is not the...
