I was really excited to try this place and really hoped food was good here, as wrapped beef in BETEL LEAF is one of my favourite dishes of all time. You would think they would have this dish perfected considering their cafe is named BETEL LEAF cafe. I ordered the wrapped beef vermicelli with added sugarcane prawn which was an extra $5. When my dish came out the first wrapped beef was so hard I couldnât even bite through it, then I tried the second one and it was raw... the next 3 were also RAW! So I tried the sugarcane prawn. It was so rubbery you could taste it was the cheap store bought kind and 1 for $5? Really? For the price they want to charge you at least make it yourself!
Moving on.. My partner ordered the sugarcane prawn DIY cold roll wrap for $20.. it was our first time here so we gave them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe the food was worth the price? IT WAS NOT WORTH THE PRICE $20 gets you 2 sugarcane prawns.. the coriander wasnât washed with old wilted bits, when the waitress put the plate down half the veggies fell onto the table and you get 5 sheets of wrap..
Basically in conclusion, if youâre looking for a recommendation, take it from a Vietnamese Asian. DONâT EAT HERE! Such a waste of time and money for something thatâll truely get your...
Read moreI am a lover of vietnamese cuisine and checked this place out after reading the reviews to see what all the hoohah is about. My experience left me thinking that positive comments are a hoax or written by those involved in staffing the business. As a Pho Tai lover I ordered this and found it aromatic to start but once the standard condiments were added it lost that inviting smell. The taste was not anything like I expected and had a cheesy taste to it that was less than pleasant. The noodles, which there were way too many for the broth were rubbery and seemed to have a unpleasant slimyness about them. The standard condiments lacked coriander and the sprouts and Basil were far from fresh. The chicken satay we ordered were burnt, dry and the satay sauce seemed nothing more than slightly thinned peanut butter. Unstable tables, cold and crampy surroundings made for a added unpleasant evening and we were greated, as we entered, by the non Vietnamese owner cursing and swearing and abusing someone (loudly)on the phone. For those who rate this place highly I can only say they have not tasted real Vietnamese cuisine nor gone to other pho cafes. Not a place for a...
