0 out of 0 Stars! but can't post it to be published. Dined out with 8 guests Saturday 4/9/2021. Not good value. Expensive dine in menu for a Chinese Restaurant when compared to others. Portion sizes extremely small and not enough to share around. Steamed dim sims were doughy and tasted peculiar, chicken satay was more like onion satay, little chicken, rendang was nothing like it should have been, over powered with cardomon, chicken sweet corn soup was nothing special to write home about, honey garlic spare ribs tiny and smaller than my pinky finger, pad thai had 2 prawns and all noodles, the list goes on. Total bill was over $210 averaging $26 per head and no alcohol. Could have really done with a stiff drink after the disappointment. Ended up at Macka's. Restaurant excuse was regular cook not in that evening, but why is that my problem??? Not one of my guest will go back there and more than likely a poor recommendation to all their friends. Want a good chinese dine in????try Imperial Room on Unley Road to compare for yourself./ Disappointing...

Dining at the Mandarin Coin is an absolute delight and pleasure! My dining group goes there regularly and the food and service is always outstanding!

I tried the Four Treasure Steamed Duck combination on Friday night and it was absolutely stunning! A large meal with a wide range of quality ingredients and a delightfully flavoured sauce.

The meals that the others ordered were also flavoursome and excellent. The service was outstanding and the atmosphere is great. Our group dines out every Friday night at different venues and the Mandarin Coin is our equal favourite venue along with the Cross Keys Hotel and the Flagstaff Hotel.

It does get a bit noisy because every time we visit there it is fully sold out with lots of happy diners. The Chinese owner is a real character and fun to chat to.

The restaurant offers a variety of Asian foods including Chinese, Indonesian and Thai style dishes. My group thoroughly recommends the Mandarin Coin...

Worst service ever. Slow to take orders, slow for food to arrive, slow to clear, just slow slow slow. Extremely inattentive staff. Had to go to counter to ask about coffee and dessert because 20+ minutes after finishing mains we were still waiting for the table to be cleared. Food was bland and salty and less than average. Ingredients were nice and fresh but the sauces were just not right. Tables poorly arranged too close together so the waitress had to lean over us to serve the other side, shoving plates/cups in our faces as she did so.

This was our 3rd visit, not our choice of restaurant, and the last 2 times were no better. For some reason the people we went with like it even though they admit the service is always rubbish. If they want to go there again I will be unavailable that night, this was the last time....
