We recently ordered a cake from the Ridgehaven store with 2 weeks prior notice. A 12 x 12 inch mud cake with cream and strawberries around the top of the cake. The guy who took my order explained there would be an extra charge for the strawberries which I paid happily. Fast forward to the day we pick the cake up, and the cake only has dark ganache roses around the top - no strawberries or cream as ordered. The writing on the cake too was not centered but squashed up the top with a lot of space below which looked strange. This was frustrating, but the no strawberries and cream was more annoying as I had specifically ordered this as it’s my partners favorite and we wanted it to look bright with the cream and strawberries. When I spoke to the man who took my order and explained that this was not the cake that we had ordered he gave me the extra money I had paid for the strawberries back and then said that he was sorry but once he sent the order off this is what came back. As the party was that day and we had to drop The Cake off by lunchtime there was not much else we could do at the time, but later that day I rang and spoke to the man again because we were really disappointed with the cake and the way it looked as it was nothing like ordered. The man was lovely and said that he was going to ring the Baker and find out what went wrong but he did also mention that when he spoke to the baker earlier in the week, that they said putting strawberries and cream around the top of the cake was not possible. If this is the case why was it not Relayed that to me so that I could have made different arrangements? He also said that as they were busy on the Saturday, he will look into it further and get back to me on the Monday. It’s now Thursday and I haven’t heard a thing. I don’t like complaining about things but when you have ordered and paid for something that is what you’re expecting to pick up, not something different. In saying that the cake was a lovely flavor, it’s just not what we ordered and it left us really disappointed as my partner specifically wanted a strawberry & cream decorated mud and I was surprising him with it for his 40th and we ended up with a cake that we just had to accept on the day whether we liked it or not, and the only surprise was that we didn't get what we ordered! The lack of communication from the staff and follow up on this as to why I didn’t receive the cake that I ordered has also been disappointing. Read moreMy idea to pop in and have a delicious lunch with my partner, 1pm, was quite busy , good to see, my partner placed the order, was told the breakfast rolls would take 2 minutes as we were asked , would we like them toasted, absolutely how delicious would that be! They brought out my green tea, Well 5 minutes went past, my partner said? Breakfast rolls should be ready, I was sitting so I could see other patrons coming and going? 10 minutes went bye, My partner went up to the counter to enquire as to where the breakfast rolls were, they hadn't done the order yet? Guy serving said he would bring them out? We noticed that the place had died down with customers, staff serving seemed to just disappear out the back? We were being very patient? After another 5 minutes, my partner approached the counter, to see where the rolls were??? Guy serving and the Guy who promised to bring them out, began to frantically look around, the rolls had been toasted and just left on the bench?? Really slack considering there were no other patrons waiting to be served? We decided to take the rolls with us? They were wrapped like a 2 year old had wrapped them?? So waiting for the rolls to be toasted in 2minutes, took over 20 minutes, and we had to ask twice, what was going on? The customer service was honestly horrible. I came in between 9:00am - 9:30am today to grab a hot chocolate. The girl who served me dragged her feet over to the register to serve me, and then continued to have next to no customer service it was beyond depressing she was absolutely miserable. I shouldn't of been made to feel like I was an inconvenience.
While I waited for my hot chocolate I watched an older women come in and she waited easily for 5 minutes before the same girl that served me decided to serve her, once again dragging her feet with the miserable attitude.
If I was the owner, I would be appalled that someone like that is the one serving customers. It is utterly disappointing. Good customer service isn't difficult I do it myself with hospitality every day, even if your having a bad day chuck a smile on your face and keep it hidden.
