Marryatville Pizza Pan ~ Antico Forno — Restaurant in Adelaide

My husband and I went to Antico Forno Restaurant last Saturday and had the most appalling experience we have ever had in a restaurant.

We got there on time at 5:30 and the restaurant was about a third full. We were promptly seated at the worst table in the place - tool stools in a high bar facing the kitchen in the back corner. We asked for a better table, pointing out that more than half of the restaurant was empty. However the manager said "Oh, I’m sorry, those are reserved for ‘regular’ customer… you have a discount voucher and that’s the table you get..” When I mentioned that I wasn’t warned about this, he said that there too many details for them to be included in the T&C and that it was not his problem.

He was very rude to us and displayed zero commitment to accommodate our request, despite the large number of tables available.

This was a special dinner for us, and the poor customer service completely ruined the experience for us. We were treated as second rate and deliberately gave us the worst possible table as voucher holders compared to the 'paying' or 'real' customers.

We would never return or recommend Antico...

Upmarket pizzeria

Kensington road entrances, steps on one side, next to a ramp. So caters for all. No car parking I could see.

In the front of the business, you see an outdoor dining area, bench seating and table style.

When you go inside, the takeaway section is what you see first, friendly staff greet you.

Walk through to the inside dining in section (divided into two rooms) and more friendly staff behind a bar, including pizza wood oven covered in metallic tiles.

We had lovely Margherita pizza with prawns added, cooked to perfection.

From the photos of this place online, I suspect there is parking somewhere, just couldn’t work out where and forgot to ask.

Happy staff are a good sign. Full house is a good sign. Well run business

My husband and I shared a Tortellini Alla Panna which was very nice. We then decided to also share a wood oven pizza and we were truly so disappointed with what was brought to our table, the pizza was burnt the base was so black it was ridiculous and to add more disappointment it was the owner that was cooking the pizzas and we saw him watching it and checking it but then he must have left it too long but still let them serve it to us 😡. His reply was not oh let me take it and make another it was oh you should have told me and I would have made another. The point is that pizza should never have come to our table the way it was so burnt absolutely disgusting we won’t...
