One of my favourite places to stop for a bite to eat in Adelaide. Pictured is the Chilli Scrambled Eggs with an Orange Ginger Carrot Juice. The amazing blend of light spice with the crisp and sweet salad drizzled on top made nothing but my tongue and senses tingle with joy! Would expect nothing less from this new and highly capable chef/owner. Trained by some of Adelaide’s best known chef’s, he’s making a name for himself in town. His humble and down to earth nature comes through in his meal portions, attention to detail and a passion to create only the best tasting menus for his customers.

Just as an artist picks their palette of paints, this menu and owner/chef has produced tastes on a plate that hit every level of “home” and tongue twisting flavours with every dish - so good I had to try another dish (also pictured is the French Toast).

Relaxed, casual setting with standard QR Covid check-in and a wait-for-seating desk - ignored by some customers

We ordered FREE RANGE EGGS ANYWAY $12.50 - two free-range eggs served your way with sourdough toast with an extra - Smokey Maple Beans $5. The other extras were mostly $5 too. Austere dish - the sourdough was a commercial, thin-sliced bread with little flavour and texture, barely toasted with no condiments such as butter or EVOO. A couple of tablespoons of micro greens [served on another menu dish] would have made the eggs more appealing

ZUCCHINI, CORN & SPRING ONION FRITTERS GF/$19.50 - with dill yoghurt, a soft poached egg, slow-roasted pea & avocado smash and a micro herb salad. The extra egg we ordered was forgotten but soon rectified. The 3 fritters were stodgy

Dishes were over-priced for value - disappointing. However, the poached eggs were a highlight, as were our 2 rounds of coffee [9/10]

The 30-minute street parking was well used by a steady stream of...

Melon & Rye ticks many of the boxes for a quality experience. There are two interior rooms for indoor dining and a further area out the back for an outdoor experience. Staff offered a pleasant greeting upon arrival and we were able so sit wherever we pleased. In fact the variety of staff were all attentive and efficient. This visit was an exploratory post hiking coffee venture and we were not disappointed. The coffee was rather hot but had a bold flavour and creamy milk froth. The coffee was one that you would savour with a bun or similar, not something you could gulp down. An almond croissant fit the bill today, and I'd be happy to say that it was the tastiest iteration of its kind that I have experienced! Food and beverage selections look very good. Possibly the only point off was that it was a tad on the...
