Long time Sushi Train customers over many years with our go to store being Unley, and secondary store being Plympton. Tonight my wife and I agreed this would be our very last visit ever to Sushi Train. Generally not the best selection the past 3-4 times as there used to be on the train as of 5pm onwards. No problems though, we mostly order from the App via QR code, But… every single time over the past 4-5 visits our orders get forgotten, they don’t come out, we got chicken came out cold as anything, after a 45 minute wait and we continually have to ask where our order is, this has occurred the past 4 or more times. The staff were apologetic, but when you watch the staff going about their work, they appear to totally be nonchalant and over it, cannot smile, seem inconvenienced when you ask, and generally not helpful. I have written many nice reviews for many restaurants, but I have certainly noticed that Sushi Train is no way by any means what it used to be, it has really dropped the ball with portion sizes also. Sorry, but with respect we won’t be...
Read moreQuality varies hugely. We've ordered food from Sushi Train Unley on a number of occasions, and usually the food quality is excellent, with good presentation. Our takeaway order on October 6th was very disappointing. Everything was slightly stale. Worst of all, the "tuna" sushi was some other fish with red food dye applied (very obvious, as it coloured the rice underneath). It didn't look or taste like tuna - I've never had this happen before at any sushi restaurant. I've written to Sushi Train management about this. Also, you should be aware that sushi rice sticks to the bottom of those eco-friendly take away containers like glue. We had to use a spatula to get them out of the boxes.
EDIT NOTE: Thanks for your reply Sushi Train, but this was the Ocean Platter order, with tuna specified as "Maguro (raw tuna)", NOT the marinated version. We also ordered some sashimi sides, including tuna, so it was easy to compare. The tuna sushi in the Ocean Platter did not look or taste like tuna to any of the 4...
Read moreWe are regular customers at sushi train. I went to Sushi train Unley on Friday around 9pm. The waiter said that the kitchen is closed but we can pick something from the train. We were happy to do that but another couple came and a different waiter asked them if they want to order something before the kitchen closes. We asked the same one if we can order as well and he said yes. Then he went to near the till to get a menu for us but the initial waiter that told us that the kitchen was closed was there and told him something and then he came back and told us that we can't order like he said pointing to the initial waiter. We were really disappointed and left immediately and went next door to dumpling king. It would be great if all customers were treated the same as we were not given the option to order but the other couple...
