The St kilda beach Hotel has a schnitzel night on both Monday and Tuesday, including a popular schnitzel trio (three separate schnitzels: chicken, beef, pork or squid) for only around $16. The serving size of the schnitzel is as big as you will find anywhere, very generous. A good crumb and the meat is not paper thin like some places, if you like a good schnitty, definitely come on the schnitzel night, although it can be busy so book ahead. We came on a Friday this time to try the Ribs on the 'Ribs night', however they where not available due to unforseen circumstances. The place was pretty busy tonight, the girls that where working where absolutely flat out, it looked like they might have been short staffed ( like a lot of places currently due to covid). But they did a great job getting all the orders right, the food came out quickly despite how busy it was, so I was very impressed. As the ribs weren't available I had the 300g steak medium rare. It was cooked just as it should be, the mushroom gravy and potatoes are on the saltier side, but not an issues if you have some table water or beer. All in all, I'm yet to have a bad experience at this hotel, and would reccomend it to anyone looking for a good value and good quality pub meal

First of all I wish I could this a zero honestly and Hi I came in here at 6:37 with my family to celebrate my nonno 90th birthday party and I started by walking in and seeing that we were stuck in a corner that was very hot and spacious we order a bottle of mascot with two glasses four beers and three cokes and a cruiser then garlic prawn, chickens schnitzel and steak and salmon. The garlic prawn was very greasy and the rice didn’t look cooked as I ordered this twice now and it smelt very bad and the salmon looked plain and dry then the salad was very greasy and we said no onion gluten free and dairy free paid extra for the order last and wrong when they should send the food together if allergies. The steak was very chewy half cooked and half raw that not what you call chef style and the chips was plain and the salad the only good thing was the gravy the chicken schezjule was alright the salad was plain. The service was very rude and the lady was quite aggressive and harsh. Food is honestly better up in the city than the country.

The pub was going under renovations during the visit. I was advised to check this place out from a couple colleagues who highly rated the food. 1. Chicken Killpatrick Schnitzel - Mostly tender, dry in parts. Big slabs of bacon rather than diced was the option the kitchen went for. Generous serving. Chips standard pub style. 3/5 2. Seafood plate - prawns thawed seemed liked pre bought cooked tiger prawns. Passable for a pub style. Squid, a little on the mush side and lacking seasoning. Fish, a little on the dry side. Oysters yeah, okay not fresh but decent. 2.5/5 Service 4/5 standard pub service. Highlight of the visit was a good view point though decor seemed dated. Friendly folk and really good pricing for the portion to be honest.

Dined here on the weekend. Ordered the pork cutlet because it came with roast potatoes. We had a child with us and appreciated his meal coming out quickly. It was fairly busy so we didn't mind having to wait for the adults meals. The pork cutlet arrived with mash potato. Not the roast as stated on the menu. I apologised (why?) to staff behind the bar and said I would like the roast potatoes. The women behind the bar were friendly but one commented to the other one, good luck getting that. Not really professional to say that infront of me. Anyway the rest of the meal was great, waiting, waiting, waiting. Still no potatoes. Had to finally ask if the child could have his ice cream. In the end I had eaten everything except the mash and had waited long enough so we left. Extremely disappointing after hearing good things about this place. Rather than leave a bad review I used the ' contact us' feature on Sunday night so I could discuss this. I received the automated response that someone would get back to me. Here it is Thursday and still...
