Sundays are all about long lunches and live music at Wirra Wirra. Kick back with your closest kin, a bottle of your favourite vino and let the day drift as shadows from the surrounding gums dance to the live acoustics of @maxkellymusic Harrys Deli offers a selection of thoughtful and wholesome dishes that are reflective of local produce and utterly delicious; whilst ordering is made easy with the table side QR code menu system. Definite must try items include the, Baba Ghanoush Flat Bread and Son of Trott Pie, whilst the Gluten Free Salt & Pepper Squid and Sticky Beef Noodle Salad were an absolute hit with my wife who required Coeliac friendly options. My only criticism if there was any, was the slight lack of attention by the wait staff. Dirty dishes were left on our table for long periods of time, share plates not bought out with the platter and empty water bottles not replaced unless prompted. These are only small things, but a dining experience is measured by the little details too, not just the food.

This was our first stop on the tasting tour, and I'm writing this review after tasting at three different vineyards. Positive aspects include the wine server's excellent performance—providing clear and insightful information without unnecessary chatter. The second positive aspect is the variety of tasting packages available. Unfortunately, our choice didn't quite satisfy me, as reflected in the scores I've included in the attached picture. However, I believe it's worth giving another chance. On my next visit, I'll definitely try a different tasting package and update my review accordingly. Additionally, it's worth mentioning that if you participate in a tasting, you can explore the vineyard for free.

Lovely wine and interesting, quirky history of the winery - it was founded by eternal bachelor, eccentric and cricketer Robert Strangways Wigley, whose cat's name was Mrs. Wigley :) We had a tour with wine testing (the wine was great, the more expensive it is the better it tastes :D ) and also the background story about how the vineyards operate (learned heaps of interesting facts). There is even a watermelon trebuchet, which still gets used once a year I think, and I would love to come back and see it in action :) It is best to visit the vineyards on a nice day too as the scenery of the place itself and the area is just beautiful!

I recently attended the Wirra Wirra tasting room (12/7/2022). The tasting room and the attached restaurant are well appointed as one would expect of an A-grade South Australian winery. We waited close to 10 minutes to be seated by one of the friendly staff as we had not booked prior to our attendance (A rainy Tuesday afternoon in the school holidays). The tasting room was at third to half capacity. On arrival we were informed about the tasting options - which have recently been changed to a 'tasting flight option'. This included about 4-5 options for tastings of 5-wines. There was no option to mix and match the set choices, however at the end of the tasting we were offered a chance to taste several of the wines not listed on our tasting option for no extra charge. Tasting plans were around $10 - which turns out to be a non-refundable on purchase fee. This was not clearly disclosed anywhere in the information provided at this time of tasting nor disclosed by the tasting room staff.

The staff were extremely knowledgeable about the wine, although the whole affair felt a tad robotic and repetitive in nature.

At the end of the tasting I elected to purchase a bottle of their Woodhenge - a delicious wine. Unfortunately in addition to the purchase of the bottle I was also charged the $10 tasting fee, essentially costing me $50 for a bottle of wine available at high volume retailers like Dan Murphy's for $33.99. Needless to say this left a bad taste in my mouth and tainted the overall experience (hence my rating of 2 stars).

I am highly adverse to the emerging trend of wine flights as tasting models for SA Wineries - these railroad you into tasting a narrow selection of wines on offer, are frequently inflexible, convey a degree of pretentiousness about the brand and add additional expense to the 'experience'. I have no objection to tasting fees, however strongly feel these should be refunded in full with purchase of wine from the cellar door (with or without minimal spend).

I will not be returning to Wirra Wirra - it is much more affordable and time effective to purchase a bottle of wine from a large volume retailer and taste wine in the comfort of...

Being a local in Mclaren Vale, I would never recommend anyone to waste their time here. A girlfriend booked an area outside at wirra wirra with the intention to sit there and enjoy some wine and platters with a few friends. We had to buy a certain amount of wine to be able to have the area we had, which was fine until we were given every single bottle of wine, at once, opened, with no lids or wine stoppers and most stupidly not placed in anything to keep chilled..! There was about 8 bottles of wine that needed to be cold and nothing was provided to keep them chill. Plus a few bottles of red with no lids. We were all happy to brave the cold however when it started heavily pouring down with rain, we all started to get very wet so we tried to seek shelter inside the winery however was DENIED. So there was 7 of us girls, with a whole heap of platter food, no shelter and tons of bottles of OPENED wine hardly even touched, standing in the pouring rain because they would not allow us to change our area. The winery was not busy, we could see many empty tables in there sheltered area of the deli and also a spare tasting room that was empty we could of sat at . We had booked an outside area which was massive undercover and honestly thought that if rained, we would be OK....

The service and food at the Deli was great, the low rating is not from that, however the same could not be said about the Cellar Door. For a place that charges for tastings (this is refundable upon purchase of a bottle) they really need to get their customer service sorted was completely ignored for more than 5 minutes between tasting one wine that's correct one wine while Two other staff members were talking amongst themselves and the other two being more attentive to a larger group of people obviously realizing they were gonna get higher sales from a larger group rather than bothering with a group of three (who may I add would've most likely purchased given the opportunity to taste the wines on offer) all in all it was a disappointing visit on Boxing Day and left a very sour note in our mouths thankfully we ended up leaving and going to a less known winery and had a lovely time their to end our day. I'm not one to post reviews that are not positive I'm quite the opposite but it was a disappointing and uncomfortable experience due to the treatment at...
