The O & L Coffee House — Restaurant in Avoca

We stopped by The O & L Coffee House on the way to Ballarat, and I’m so glad we did! I got the Boost smoothie, which was refreshing and just what I needed for the road. The menu had a great variety of coffee, smoothies, savory pastries, and sweet treats—it was hard not to try everything!

The vibe inside was so cozy and homey. I loved the sofa seating with magazines, coloring books, pencils, and puzzles. It’s the kind of spot where you could easily spend an afternoon just relaxing.

I accidentally forgot my purse here, and by the time I realized, we were already in Ballarat. When Daniel called, the staff confirmed they had it, and they were so kind to hold onto it until we picked it up on our way back. While there, we decided to try their desserts and got the orange Jaffa, carrot cake, and hedgehog slice. The carrot cake was warm and delicious, and the hedgehog slice was my favorite—perfectly chocolaty and biscuity.

The atmosphere inside was super charming, with lots of seating options, including comfy sofas and little extras like coloring books and puzzles. It felt very inviting and perfect for a quick break or a longer stay.

Ria realized she’d left her purse behind after we got to Ballarat, and the staff were so helpful when I called to check. They kept it safe for us, and when we returned to pick it up, we decided to try some of their desserts. The orange Jaffa was unique, the warm carrot cake was a standout, and the hedgehog slice was an instant favorite for both of us.
