This place is impressive. All prepared on the premises by the owner. Staffed today (16th Jan 21) by a couple of fun, sassy, ladies who know their way around a kitchen. I ordered up big on gluten free items because I'm not good on the gluten. They had a whole separate display cabinet for GF. 1st I had the Pepper steak pie. The pastry was wonderful and the filling had been made with love, flavour and time+++. I think it was the best pie I have ever had. I also demolished an orange and almond cake and a lemon curd tart. The tart was particularly good. They even had lactose free milk for my latte. There is a spacious dining area as well that I wasn't expecting. I was surprised to see lots of other GF items on the menu. There were plenty of tables out the front and an unusual $1 Covid cleaning charge to sit down. I see some diners have whined about that but the signs are clear and it is only a dollar. It costs money to wait tables and a user pay system for people to clean up after you isn't unfair. This is not your average bakery in a far flung rural farming community.

Loved Avoca's Home Made Cafe. Staff were super friendly and highly skilled at making a GREAT coffee. Staff so very friendly that they humoured Mr 10 who asked for a ham and chicken sandwich without a blink - yet I was still picking my shocked chin up off the floor 😅 Highly recommended even if it's a quick stop. Excellent at COVID restrictions without changing the relaxed atmosphere. Thanks so very much 💓 for your service - I'll definitely return đŸ€“

In Avoca today we called in for a quick meal at the Home Made Café in the main street. It was lunchtime and the place was jumping. We found the service excellent and the staff friendly and welcoming. All the meals we ordered were just excellent and we would return. Well done to the team!!!

We ordered takeaway then thought as all but 1 table was free we would sit and eat, the lady came out, stormed up to us, said you cant sit here, you ordered takeaway so we simply got up and left, it had nothing to do with vaccinations at all, we left because of this ladies riudeness, absolutely not about vaccination. We were even ok to leave, it was the way the lady stormed up to us and said we ordered takeaway, while waiting for our order we watched others leave before even ordering because she was so abrupt and rude when practically yelling at them not to touch the automatic door, we felt very sorry for one older gentleman in particular and when we left and walked past the others sitting there, they even commented on her rudeness. We had not only supported the cafe we had referred others, can only hope they were met with happier staff. Allowing us to sit outside would have made your empty cafe look more popular and please dont try and say it was about the vaccinations, you didnt Ask to see our proof, you made it about our takeaway order, would you have charged us more to eat in? I originally didn't say anything about what happened happened, simply rated you however you responded with a lie. Do you blame everyone leaving on vaccination status when you havent even checked? I wish your business well and hope you simply look at how you are speaking to customers and treating them, it's a hard time for businesses at the moment and by simply speaking nicely can make all...

Haven’t been since they changed hands but thought I’d try, Place smells strongly of fried oil/fish Ordered a flake and a few other things, Flake was mushy and not fresh, and was lucky to be 12cms long served with an old piece of lemon, flake was advertised at $9.50 but was charged $10? No worries only .50c but then also got a few other things on the way out and was charged wrong again and was told “It’s our suppliers fault, we haven’t changed price yet” Absolutely no responsibility on their own prices. Zero prices on main board
. No service just served plain food and go, Won’t...
