Wow! The best hotel, hubby, who is a Coeliac, has eaten a Gluten Free meal at in Aust. The welcoming staff and easy to order menu made it a breeze. The best GF chicken schnitzel, with GF chips and sweet potato chips and GF gravy, along with a huge range of fresh and tasty salads, including garlic mushrooms. There is a great range of gf foods and staff are very aware of contamination. My lightly battered butterfish was melt in the mouth as were the chips and scrumptious veggies! So glad we found this wonderful hotel in a very small place called Barmera SA. Thank you to the lovely lady st the counter for her help, you know who you are. Sorry didn't get name! Will definitely be back next time we pass through Barmera SA. 10/10 from us both, one Coeliac and one non Coeliac.

OMG - worse place to eat ever. Went for dinner June 2022 long weekend. Arrived at 6pm to the restaurant - still no food at 0830pm. I ordered roast pork - didn't even have potatoes - had to ask for some sort of potato - they sent out about 7 chips. We try to support local but never again. Apparently it's changing hands or has changed hands and they got rid of previous staff. The staff that were on were pleasant and accommodating but never, ever, again. Mediocre food- extremely poorly managed. And I hardly ever give 1 star reviews.

Went with family for dinner on our annual Barmera trip and certainly wasn't disappointed! Super friendly staff who, despite the noise of other rowdy tables, kept calm and professional. Meals were fast and presented nicely. I had the pleasure of trying the Angus Beef Burger and it was beautiful. Absolutely one of the tastiest burgers I've had for a long time, generous on all ingredients and perfect like it was from an advertisement 😍 Thanks again!

Well, what an absolute disaster.

You would think that when you book a large table, a month in advance, the staff would not look so surprised and rattled when the large group walks in.

Customers are pointed to a sign saying that steaks and chicken breast, would take 25-30 minutes. So, in an effort to avoid the long wait time, one simply orders a simple chicken schntizel to speed things up.

Cue 1.5 hours later….

After losing your appetite after you watch a hundred meals come out, you quickly realise that you should have taken the chance on the steak, and simply ask for your money back. When this is denied by the server, ‘because the chef said no’, you ask to talk to the manager.

Then, you are greeted by, ‘Pete’, who when confronted with the same dilemma, straight out refuses to refund your money. Pete’s staunch refusal is also coupled with a degree of disdain that could only possibly be a by-product, of having to oversee this utter garbage, for the last fifty years.

The Barmera Hotel is literally, one of the most horrid dining experiences I have had. To top it off, they aptly match the customer service, with their food, which was frankly, awful. The chef must be a dual amputee, blind, deaf and have no sense of smell. There’s no other way to explain the garbage that was slopped on the plate tonight (if you were lucky enough to be fed).

The staff are abrupt, rude, miserable, sad, discombobulated, tiresome and lacking any sense of pride, or care. If you absolutely need to eat at this establishment, maybe wait until you catch covid and lose your sense of...

We had a meal here tonight and are incredibly disappointed by the service. After waiting for our meals for an hour, we discovered that our meals were forgotten by the kitchen (which we understand happens from time to time). What was incredibly disappointing was that we were told our meals would be sent out ASAP, however we still had to wait another 30 minutes and see multiple meals delivered before ours. At the end, after waiting 1.5 hours, we asked for some level of customer service (like a refund on a meal), which is often offered at other places when similar poor service occurs (normally without having to ask). In the end, all they could offer was a dessert or more drinks but, after being there for 2 hours with small children who were out way past their bedtime, we had to decline. They refused to refund us the drinks we had paid for earlier in the night. Overall a very disappointing experience and lacklustre...

What a complete joke. Would never visit this place ever again. Took an hour and a half to arrive. Didn’t order a steak as told it would take 30 mins. Should have ordered that as my parmi took over an hour. Was asked if we wanted veg or salad with our meals, a friendly young girl had to go to the salad bar to dish out two plates at a time. We were a table of 8. We ate our salads a good hour before our mains came but only 4 of us got our mains whilst the other 4 meals came half an hour later after. Service was shocking. Dirty salad plates sat in front of us for 50 mins. The food was below average and we were keen for dessert but we aren’t going to have it here or we won’t leave until after midnight! Do not venture out unless you’re totally desperate for food and don’t have any where else...
