River Rock Cafe is a very unique, warm and lively hub for the local community. Visitors from out of town are welcomed. It’s not an expensive, quiet, private dining experience where you are waited upon. It’s more like common lounge room served by humans who care, including about your dietary needs. The food is yummy: Thai, Mexican, chais, coffee, cakes! If you don’t know anyone, you soon will. Or you could just pick up a book from the side table and read. Or bring backgammon! On Friday nights, the music is provided by the audience who are highly supportive and appreciative. The talent can be incredible at times, or maybe just ordinary. Famous people turn up! And anyone can jump in. Watching improvised music can be beyond magical (as well as messy and hilarious). Chillax!! If it’s very busy, your food might be late. Tables kind of belong to everyone.
